Lonestar 2011 ADN Hopefuls

I didn't see a thread on here for Fall 2011 applicants to the Lonestar nursing program, so I decided to start one.:) I will be applying to Montgomery as my first choice and am really nervous about taking the HESI test with all of the added components. I applied to Kingwood this past application period with an 11.5652 and got an alternate spot, competition was fierce. So, here I go again, hopefully I'll get in this time around. I'm really nervous about the A&P portion of the HESI. I feel like I've forgotten alot of what I learned. Any suggestions from anyone?

Actually, i had montgomery as my 1st option and then north harris as my 2nd. I have not received a letter from north harris yet, but it will be the deciding factor. if i am accepted into NH, honestly, i will have no idea what to do. i really want to go to montgomery because it is only 2 minutes from where i live, but then again i'm risking not getting into the program because i'm an alternate. i'm kinda scared to make a bad decision. what should i do?:confused:

I'm not sure about the time frame but you have a while to decide which slot to accept. I think you will have plenty of time to make the decision that is right for you, so try not to fret to much this early in the game

Does anyone know how many ADN spots Cy-fair has? I was just curious since I know NH is accepting 130 with approx. 30 alternates, and I think Montgomery has 40 slots not including alternates.

I am so anxious ladies!!! I wish we had word today!!! :-) :-) :-) I keep calling my husband who every day gets home earlier than I do - to ask him - HAVE YOU CHECKED THE MAIL!!!!?????!!! :lol2::lol2::lol2: Bless his heart he is jsut as anxious as me so he is so patient with me. I just can't wait any longer!!!!!! :nurse::nurse::nurse::nurse::nurse::nurse: I have been wondering too----- I wonder why they dont post online or on a board at the nursing dept office the people that have been accepted as soon as it is available?????!!!??? Waiting on the postal system is so darn slow!!!

I know, it's so ridiculous that we have to wait for post mail, when they do almost everything else on my lonestar!! Even more nerve racking is that if NH is mailing letters on Friday April 1st, it will be a miracle if we get the letters by Saturday and I will not be here until Sat night:eek::eek::eek: My mother is having spinal surgery tomorrow morning and when she is released on Wed or Thurs I will be going to my parents house (100 miles away) to help care for her until Sat. I was fine until the Montg. letters went out now this whole thing is making me crazy:bugeyes::grn::hdvwl:

Just curious.... Did mont send out denial letters as well? For instance if Mont was your last choice school would you have gotten your denial letter already? Or do they wait to send them out after?

Sarabeth--the info I got was that after all 4 campuses sent out acceptance letters, the central office will send out denial letters... I was paranoid about the same thing--no way was I going to survive getting 3 rejection letters if NH sends out last, or 4 if not accepted at all...AGH!!

Diva--you and I should alternate calling the NH nursing office until we find out which day the letters will be sent so they don't get too good @ recognizing our voices haha! When I called the other day, I asked the lady what I should do to avoid stalking her, and she said don't call until next week, and I asked if I could call everyday lol. She didn't seem too pleased with the idea, but it sounded like she kinda gave in lol! I told her I would have my entourage call so she wouldn't know it was me :) I am hopeful they will go out before Friday, but even if they do, the Mont letters took 3 days to arrive yuck! Hope everything goes well with your madre, try not to stress TOOOO much (if that's even possible!) I just don't understand why they can't post or email something giving the date the letters are mailed...that would cut down on a lot of paranoid phone calls...:jester:

2 weeks my mind was occupied because

Is starting to stress over getting accepted

Chicanita--I hear that the schools try extremely hard to get all of the alternates in, and most of them do (read that from a previous thread, so not sure how accurate it is, but it's nice to hold onto!) I live in Conroe and really wanted to get into Mont. but put NH as my 1st choice to give myself a better chance...so I kinda know how you feel, if that's any comfort :idea:. Hope everything turns out okay, keep us updated!! And congrats on getting a spot period! It's been a tough road!:yeah:

thank you! i really appreciate your words. i'm more stressed out now that i know the outcome than when i was waiting for the letter. lol! do you think that NH has a better program than montgomery? if that is the case and i do get accepted into NH then my decision would lean more towards NH. i feel like i do have a chance at getting accepted into NH since i did make it into the alternative list at montgomery. i just want to get into the best program so i can become the best nurse!:nurse:
