I didn't see a thread on here for Fall 2011 applicants to the Lonestar nursing program, so I decided to start one.:) I will be applying to Montgomery as my first choice and am really nervous about taking the HESI test with all of the added components. I applied to Kingwood this past application period with an 11.5652 and got an alternate spot, competition was fierce. So, here I go again, hopefully I'll get in this time around. I'm really nervous about the A&P portion of the HESI. I feel like I've forgotten alot of what I learned. Any suggestions from anyone?
Good luck to all applying:)
I got an A in medical micro. I took it at cy-fair over the summer. I can't remember the teachers name but she was good. If anyone is interested I could look it up. On another note... I know it's 3/23 but I have now found myself looking in the mailbox every day for that letter from lonestar.I guess I'm hoping that they might have already gone out. Every night I go to bed I tell myself, one more day closer to april. Is it april yet?
Hi everyone! Haven't been around in awhile so thought I'd say hello. :) My kids had spring break last week so we went on vacation, which REALLY helped with this God awful waiting game we've got going on here. I remember last year that Montgomery and Tomball people got letters the last week of March (NH not until 1st week of April though) so fingers crossed lets hope that happens this time too! Good luck y'all :)
Hello everyone, I've been watching this thread in great detail for like three months, but have been entirely too lazy to actually create an account until this week :) pretty bad, i know! I applied at NH first choice and montgomery second, although I live closer to mont the number of spots available made me cringe! but BIG NEWS: a friend of mine went to the Nursing Dept at Montgomery today and they told her the acceptance letters were mailed out TODAYY!!! so, then we were trying to figure out if each campus you apply to will send you an acceptance/denial letter, because it would suck to get 3 denial letters each a week apart if you get accepted into the school that sends out letters LAST! or even worse, knowing that everyone else you know has received an acceptance letter to the campus of choice, but you haven't and know the denial letters go out next. that's almost worse than having the letter itself...the constant and continual waiting game!! I called NH on Monday because I too heard that some letters go out a week early (or two weeks in this case!) and although I know they wont give a definite answer, the lady kind of told me not to expect anything until the first week of April...guess they will be getting another call from me tomorrow regarding the different campus release dates...seems like kind of a confusing and stressful system to me instead of just having all 4 campuses mail at the same time--will probably make me have a nervous break down for the next two weeks! does anybody have a different interpretation of how the system works?? Also, I took Pharm last summer at Kingwood twice a week for I think 3 hrs...easiest class ever! my professor was awesome, she was an adn instructor as well and had a great way of applying the info to real life to help with memorization and practicality. Was wonderful because it is a LOT in such a short time! her name rhymed with "cleaver" if anyone wants to check it out :) lastly, does anyone know anything about the required class (RNSG 1172??) we have to take before the semester starts? i was told that at montgomery it's like a week long 8-5, but not sure about NH or others. Wanted to know how many credit hours it counted for so i can begin picking from one of the 800 classes i registered for the summer. have to take at least 6 hrs for financial aid and still need to take micro. trying to get two classes on separate sessions to avoid to much stress. thanks to whoever started and those who have continued with this thread--all of the info has been extremely helpful! look forward to getting results for all of us, I will keep my fingers crossed until we all know something!

So you get summer financial aid? How does that work if you have received full financial aid during spring and fall? I have asked advisers and cant seem to get a straight answer. Everyone tells me a different thing It is aggravating. Will that affect our ability to take the first RN class in July? Also do you know how it works for RN program? We wont be "full-time" at least with 12 credits. Does that matter?
I am so excited :yeah:I hope the letters come REALLY soon!!!! I'm guessing Montgomery and Tomball send them out around the same time??!!
trb - I posted this on the other thread, but thought I'd post here too in case anyone else is wondering. With my experience from last years process, you will not get a letter from each campus. Last year, I applied at Mont as 1st choice, Tomball 2nd, and NH as 3rd. I only got ONE letter and it was a denial letter from NH. (My score was only like 11.1 or something.) So like Mont passed my application down to Tomball, then to NH, then when it was too low for NH as well, NH sent me the denial letter. Hope this helps. :)
trb - Here is NH info on summer course RNSG 1172 http://www.lonestar.edu/14365.htm (scroll down to where is says Basic Track Registration)
"Class begins on Monday, August 2 and ends on August 19. Classes are from 8-12pm or 12-4pm. You do not need to purchase any items for this course. Comfortable street clothes are acceptable. This course is required of all students except current CNAs and EMTs."

Thanks Peyton--I called NH and they told me that if you are not accepted into any of the programs, you will get one letter from the central office stating rejection As for the RNSG 1172, thanks for the info, I'm assuming it means Aug 1st since that is the Monday, not the 2nd? But did find out that it's a 1 credit course so still have to find two other classes to take ugh!! :)

butterfly--i did last year, you have to take @ least 6 hours, but after books and tuition, i still got like $800 back which was nice seeing as how i wasn't expecting anything j if you are getting fin. aid now, all you should have to do is go to the office and tell them you want summer money, but i'm not sure if summer goes under the fall 10-spring 11 or fall 11-spring 12 school year, as far as filling out the new fafsa. i asked the same question regarding the "full time" status to my stepmom, who is a teacher at lsc (not in nursing, but figured she could give me a semi-general answer) and she thinks that that the clinicals will probably count for something, as the program is set up as a full time program. probably many people are in the same situation, so should be pretty easy to find out the details if this is true. i called nh again and she told me their letters will be sent out by next friday the 1st--they are waiting to hear back from the bon about some licensure issues on apps (citizen/visa status and things like that i believe). so we're down counting the minutes and seconds of each day and hating the post office...!! :heartbeat
Is anyone applying to Cy-fair as their first choice? It seems everyone is doing NH. While that's my second choice I'm dying to know anything about Cy-fair!!!
Sarabeth--sorry I don't even know anyone that goes there to help you out!! My best suggestion is to call and stalk the nursing department like I do haha! hope you get some info soon! i know you are dying because at least i have SOMETHING to go off of!

Haha it's ok! Any information about any campus is helpful! And I'm pretty sure the ladies at Cy-fair dread my email address popping up in their inboxes by now. I've sent a million emails. Lol!! Good luck to everyone. Knowing mont letters are out makes everything so much more nerve racking!

katlady,
I HATE the system...it is always messing up and then they changed it and made it worse..lol no good.
I didn't have that come up though..you should go up there. Tomball never has a line FYI so it is a lot quicker to see someone.
If anyone is applying for Tomball there is a specific counselor to see..I know names aren't supposed to be on here but if you send me a message I will give you his name
