Okay, for all of us that did not get into the Lone Star Fall 2010 program and are trying again for the Spring...here we go again.

I'm retaking AP2 this summer (I have a B so now I want an A) to increase my points. After that I just don't know what else to do because I have all co-reqs completed, CPR done and Immunizations done. What are your plans to increase your chances of getting in for the Spring?

With regards to whether they will accept your credit from testing out of a class...I faced the same situation...if you tested out of a class then they will give you credit for having taken the class if you can prove that you tested. In other words, if it just shows up on your transcript that does not matter...you will need to provide your test results. Also, they will not give you any grade credit for that particular class...meaning that it will not be calculated. So if you have an A in two of the classes and tested out of one, they will average the two classes with the grades only. In other words, it should not matter if you have all As but if you don't then it could hurt you.

Thanks for the confirmation RN2B. I knew they had some sticky rules (if you took it at another campus you would have to take a super hard test to get into Cy-Fair's program) but I also heard that they changed that rule. I went ahead and registered for an online course this summer through Tomball I think. I will be taking that, along with the stinky PE credit I still need before I can apply and the CNA course.

So how did everyone's finals go? I am waiting on pins and needles for my A&P II grade to be posted. I was right at low end of an A going into the final so I am keeping my fingers crossed that I did well enough to keep my A.

Hello!

I am also a Spring 2011 Hopeful! This will be my first time around applying for the nursing program. I am putting all my eggs in one basket and hoping to get in to Kingwood's ADN program starting January 2011.

I will be applying with an 11.826 at Kingwood. I'm taking Pharm. in the Summer & Micro in the Fall.

Looking forward to applying and hopefully getting in! :)

Hello everyone. I will also be applying to Kingwood this time around. I have a score of 11.5652. I'm debating whether or not to retake the Hesi to try to score higher but, I'm afraid I'll get a lower grade. I'm hoping this score will be good enough to get in. Any advice?

Lone Star only requires Reading and Math portions of HESI, right? I bought the Evolve study guide and want to make sure I don't need to worry about the other sections: vocabulary, grammar, biology, chemistry, a&P and Physics?

I was wondering how you guys already had your scores (which are great, btw! you'll have NO problem getting in)...i didn't think you could take the HESI until it was the application period. Is there a way I can take it now and if I don't end up with a score I'm comfortable with take it again? I have 8 pts before the HESI and I'm really nervous about it!!!

I took the HESI during the January application period. I applied to Montgomery, North Harris, and Tomball, not having all of my courses completed to earn me the 4 points in that section. I just decided to take a chance. I didn't figure I would get in, but thought I'd give it a try. Anyways, I feel better this time around.

Yes, they only test on the reading and math portion. :)

WOO HOO!!! They posted my grade! I got my A so I can stop stressing. :p

Now I just have to finish up my PE credit this summer and hope that they post grades in time to meet the application deadline. Oh, and take the HESI. I'm going to use my break between now and July to brush up on my fractions.

Less than 2 months until the applications open. Anyone getting excited yet?

Thanks Kyla.ann! I am getting excited AND nervous. I've got a ways to go before I am on "easy street" like you. I really want to start Jan but I have to retake Psych and Comp (taking this minimester that started today) and take me A&P refresher and speech, get CPR certified, take my HESI and get all my immunizations!!! I may be pushign it a little but don't want to wait until Fall 2011 to start. We'll see how it goes! :confused:

I'm with you girls! Finishing up a class this summer session and planning to apply for a spring start! I'm just nervous about the HESI! I was told from the program director that the cutoff for Kingwood Spring 2009 was 11.6 and Spring 2010 was 11.48...those are pretty high scores!
