Okay, for all of us that did not get into the Lone Star Fall 2010 program and are trying again for the Spring...here we go again.
I'm retaking AP2 this summer (I have a B so now I want an A) to increase my points. After that I just don't know what else to do because I have all co-reqs completed, CPR done and Immunizations done. What are your plans to increase your chances of getting in for the Spring?
Question! So I'm applying but if I haven't actually taken English 1301. I got AP credits for it out of HS. So, if I have an A in A&P I and Psychology (Which is do), will I get the full 4 points? I'm applying at Kingwood. Last year, my boyfriend applied with 11.23 pts and the official cutoff was 11.34... >_
You might want to check with the nursing department about your AP credits in lieu of the actual course. I don't know if they will take it or not.
You actually have to have more than those classes complete for the other 4 points though. You have to have 27 out of the 31 required gen ed courses complete to get the full 4 points. (not sure if you were talking about this portion or not but I thought I would throw it out there just in case)
Here are all the gen ed courses you need to have completed:
BIOL 2401 Human Anatomy & Physiology I
BIOL 2402 Human Anatomy & Physiology II
BIOL 2420 Medical Microbiology
PSYC 2301 General Psychology
PSYC 2314 Life-span Growth & Development
SOCI 1301 Principles of Sociology
ENGL 1301 Composition & Rhetoric I
SPCH 1318 OR 1311 Interpersonal Communication OR Introduction to Speech Communication
KINE Physical activity course (1 hour)
Elective Fine Arts / Humanities (3 hours)
Here is a link to the ranking criteria/score chart for the program:

Oh, and I am not sure what my score is yet. I will have 8 points at least for my pre-reqs and GPA, I just need to wait until I take the HESI this July before I know what my final score is.
I am actually cutting it really close. I won't be able to submitt my application until right before the deadline. I am squeezing in one more class during the second summer session and crossing my fingers that they post grades in time for me to make the deadline.
I knew that you had to have an totaled 27 hours. I was just wondering about the AP creds for the first part, because that is my only concern. I guess their only option are to factor it in as an A or not factor it in at all, which I assume would be the latter, and if that's the case, I finished API and Psych with an A so I'm good.
taylorxteddy - If I'm understanding your question right....
To get all 4 pts for the 3 classes (A&P I or II, Psych, and Eng) you have to had made an A in all 3 classes. If you take your GPA for each class and divide it by 3, thats how many pts you have. You HAVE to have those 3 classes to apply. Idk if they will take the credit you have for it or not...
So if you have 2 A's and then no grade in Eng, you'd have 2.67 pts out of 4 for that section.
I don't have a grade in English because I exempted it, not because I didn't take it. Lone Star accepts AP credits. They gave me credit for English 1301 and it shows up on my transcript as "Credit", because an AP exam gives you college credits. I even have the hours for it on my transcript. So I don't see why they'd give me a 0 for a class that is on my transcript as a class with credit and since Lone Star honors AP credits.
Regarding the Pharm question...its not that Cyfair won't accept your Pharm credit if you take it at their campus...you cannot take it at their campus unless you are already accepted into the program and then you can only take it during specific semesters and it is basically either the first summer or fall depending on when you start the program. However, I have it confirmed in writing from the department secretary that they will in fact accept your pharm credit taken at another Lone Star campus. I have already registered for the Fall class at Tomball. I will be attending every Monday at 9am. It is going to be soooooo worth the drive to be able to take that class by itself and before the program starts in the Spring. I KNEW there was a reason I did not get accepted for the Fall program! It was so I could take Pharm in the fall! :)
