Okay, for all of us that did not get into the Lone Star Fall 2010 program and are trying again for the Spring...here we go again.
I'm retaking AP2 this summer (I have a B so now I want an A) to increase my points. After that I just don't know what else to do because I have all co-reqs completed, CPR done and Immunizations done. What are your plans to increase your chances of getting in for the Spring?
Here's another site I just found that seems helpful for the reading portion of the HESI. There are a bunch of practice tests on here.
jenniferneedlenazi - i have been stalking old threads myself trying to get a feel for the program and unfortunately, it seems like just as they get started, they all drop off. (guess what they say about ns consuming all of your time is true!)
here are a few threads that have some great information in them though.

Jennifer, remind me, you did take the A&P refresher course, right? My class is finished and I'm trying to figure out how the RN dept knows I took it. It isn't popping up under the "program evaluation" thing that shows our grades, etc. I sent an email out but am curious how this works. I'm just nervous b/c I will be cutting it close w/ the micro refresher course to get my full points and am wondering if this is a process????????? grrr.
Thank you, Kyla. I have been stalking as well of course, with no avail. seems like they discuss getting all of their acceptance letters and then the forum thread disappears!
Michelle - Yes, I finished A&P2 in March. The advisor told me to make a copy of the certificate and hand it in with your application. CyFair CE desk people are super nice. As soon as your grade posts (rather your "P" grade), just call up there and ask her to mail you the certificate. I asked for mine one day and the next day I got it in the mail. The prof for that class actually didn't have the grades "posted" and I called the CE office. The desk lady had to go into the class from her computer and "close it out?" and then it showed up on MyRecords the next day...she still sent the certificate anyway, but you have to request it. I wouldn't worry at all because the CyFair CE department actually has their stuff together and will take the time to answer your question or concern. Unlike the NH department. If you just finished, I would give the prof a couple days or at least over the wkend to close out the course...then call on Monday and have them send your certificate. Hope that helps...and eases your anxiety!
Jennifer, thanks! I finally got a hold of someone very helpful at Cyfair and she is mailing me my cert right away. I was constantly asking the prof. when the grades would be posted and they were pretty quickly. It says I got an "S" though??? I assume Satisfactory instead of Pass. Is that weird? I'm crossing my fingers my work will pay for it. They typically only pay for credits not ceu's.
Great, Michelle! The lady was very nice when I asked her to mail it to me. And you're right...I thought it was "pass" but I just checked MyRecords and mine shows and "S" as well. I hope your work pays for it...I wish the money tree would grow in my yard so I could pick some $100 bills at this point
Jpinkard--Thanks again. I replied to your PM with my email, hopefully it went through this time!
Everyone who's taken the HESI- I got the Evolve study guide book and it had a mini reading comprehension test of 20 questions. There was a small passage and then 5 questions about the passage...is this all that is on the real test? It seemed very repetitive. Is that a fair assessment?
O.k. guys, I need some advice if you don't mind. I'm seriously debating on whether or not to retake the HESI to get a higher score. My score is 11.5652. I know that's a pretty good score, but I'm not feeling very confident about that getting me in. I have this feeling for some reason that the cutoff is going to be really high this year. I'm probably just being paranoid but I'm not getting any younger and really want to get in this Spring. So, in your opinion, should I retake it to try to get a higher score, or leave it as it is and hope for the best? Thanks for your feedback and listening to me ramble.:)

Brian, welcome and good luck. Did she say what problems they were having re: the online program? I was under the impression they *might* have one start in the Spring based on when the students who are in it now are finished.
I posted some websites that I used to study for the HESI. For the reading, it is a lot of main idea, predicting outcomes type questions. I think there were maybe 2 problems like this
3a + 5b(2b-4b) =
It was basically what you mentioned above, add, subtract, decimals, fractions....
