Lone Star Spring 2011

Published

Okay, for all of us that did not get into the Lone Star Fall 2010 program and are trying again for the Spring...here we go again.

I'm retaking AP2 this summer (I have a B so now I want an A) to increase my points. After that I just don't know what else to do because I have all co-reqs completed, CPR done and Immunizations done. What are your plans to increase your chances of getting in for the Spring?

For those of you that have already taken the HESI: do they let you use scrap paper and a calculator for the math part?

Yes they do.

Jennifer and Kyla, how was the CPR class?

I just checked the pharm classes again that are offered in the Fall. There is one for Kingwood that just says "distance learning" and the prof is TBA. That wasn't always there, was it? It is a 16 week course. The Tuesday night one is still listed. I'm torn, I would prefer an online class, but also think I may get more out of the actual class. ???????

How are the girls who are in Pharm right now doing? Do you think taking it online is going well???

Thanks!!!

Editing....i just tried to sign up for it and it isn't showing up, weird!!

mks- I'm in pharm online right now. I like it. I'm a HUGE fan of online classes, though, so I'm pretty biased. I think with online classes you can get a lot out of them if you want to.

thanks!!! unfortunately, it is not letting me register for it anyways!!

The CPR class was pretty good. I didn't see Jennifer there though :(

It was a little strange at first because I didn't realize it was an apartment converted into an office. I thought for sure I had the wrong address until I saw their sign in the window. They are all super nice there though. We all had our own dummies to work on. Adult and infant. It also went by really quickly. We were done about 45 minutes early. I definitely recommend them if you still need to get your CPR certification.

Really, that is weird, b/c I feel like Jennifer hasn't been on here in a few days. Or am I imagining that???????? Hope everything is ok.

Thanks for the info!

mks1014- It is going really well. I've got one more week left and have an A in the class. I also like online classes. as they allow me to work on my own schedule. However, I do feel I probably would have learned a little more in a classroom setting. I guess it really depends on your preference.

Yeah, I noticed that too.

Jennifer! Come out, come out wherever you are!

Ha! I didn't die or anything like that, but I did have a whole dad-gum tree fall in the driveway last friday after the storm...so, I've been a chainsaw massacre for the last week. Mending fences so my cows don't roam the streets and ditches!

But thanks for being concerned! We'll all have to get together after everyone has finished the HESI.

Michelle - did you register for the online pharm class?! I just looked and saw there was an "all online" pharm class, that's awesome...but I still want to know who the prof is going to be.

Oh, and next Wednesday...information meeting...I'm going. Should I pin a rose on my collar so we know each other??! :lol2:

OH!! Information meeting AND application period OPEN!!

Jennifer, yay, you are alive!!! So sorry about the tree. What a pain!

I tried to sign up for that class, but couldn't. I wonder if it is like the cyfair class and only available for RN students. I will try again, but not that worried b/c I'm ok w/ the Tuesday night class.

I plan on being there next week. I will probably be in scrubs b/c I wear them at work. I can't apply till I have that Micro certificate, grrrr!!!!!!!
