Lone Star Spring 2020 ADN

Nursing Students School Programs

Published

From reading everyone that got into Lone Star nursing programs I hypothesized one very important point. Correct me if I'm wrong but if you get anything less than A's in English and A&P there is NO chance of admission.

The only instance I calculated a chance is a "B" in English, an "A" in A&P and a perfect 100% on the HESI. Other than that, A's in your classes with a minimum 88% on the exam is my observed formula for entrance.

I see why so many (myself included) get so worked up about the HESI. Anyone else taking the test next week at a Lone Star?

If anyone has taken A&P at a Lone Star over a summer session, how did you find attaining an A over the six-week period? Also, if anyone wants to part with a lab book...(?)

I have heard of the fast track but I’m not sure where they do it. Maybe try HEB or Walgreens or even like an urgent care!

Yes. I just called the clinic that does the fast track so I’ll get it on February 12th, 2nd shot Feb 19th and March 4th then the titer a month after on April 4th... it’s cutting quite close to the deadline but I could only pray for it to show I’m immune... thanks so much everyone for your help ?

Omg $220?!!! They told me only $120... ?.... And you’re very welcome. I really want to get into Cy-Fair as my first choice because I heard it’s only 3 semesters and the summer but I’m afraid it might be super hard to get accepted there. Tomball is my 2nd but I’m still trying to decide between the two since they’re both about 30 mins from my house.
they told me even if I submit it the application at 3:30PM on the last day, it wouldn’t affect the chance of acceptance as it’s by score and not first come first served..

I’m just worried about the series showing I’m not immune And having to wait another semester and retaking the HESI since mine is about to expire before the next window opens up... ?? I didn’t know it’ll take that long for the series otherwise I would have started on them earlier ??

No you’re right on the $120 for the hep b series. I paid $220 for all the shots and everything you have to get once you get accepted into the program. There’s more you have to do once you get accepted but you only need the hep b to apply! And I got into cyfair with an 87.6 on the hesi and A’s in my pre reqs so you deff have a chance of getting in with your scores! Lol yea it’s deff not first come first served they wouldn’t do that to us that would be torture lol and when is the last day to apply??

$120 is before you get accepted. After acceptance you have a ton more vaccinations and or titers to get. Acceptance is where you start spending the money. So save up from now to make things easier.

Yes I hope so ? how long did you have to wait before they sent out the acceptance email/ letter?

And honestly I just studied a lot haha I scored a high 90 in every subject except A&P (92%: weakest subject ?) I searched up a lot of quizlets related to HESI as well. Then I would sit and write down every question and answer on paper and would rewrite those questions ? I made lots of notes from the Elsevier Ed 4 book. I bought the full version of the HESI A2 app on my phone to study whenever I’m free as well. I studied them about a good two months.

I didn’t bother to study math because it’s my strongest subject. However, it took me almost 55 mins to completed that section. but I got 100% on it so I was very happy. CT portion I got a score of 940.

I finished the exam in 2 hours 10 mins or something like that so it wasn’t as bad as I thought it would be. I was super stressed out Because it was my first time taking it and I didn’t know what to expect but I walked out feeling relieved ? I’m just the type to get super stressed out ever any kind of testing haha

if anyone ever needs notes or anything, please feel free to pm me ?

It was about 3 weeks after the application deadline that they emailed us! And wow! I took the hesi twice. First time I got an 86 and then I got an 87.6! But it got me in so I was happy ?
