From reading everyone that got into Lone Star nursing programs I hypothesized one very important point. Correct me if I'm wrong but if you get anything less than A's in English and A&P there is NO chance of admission.
The only instance I calculated a chance is a "B" in English, an "A" in A&P and a perfect 100% on the HESI. Other than that, A's in your classes with a minimum 88% on the exam is my observed formula for entrance.
I see why so many (myself included) get so worked up about the HESI. Anyone else taking the test next week at a Lone Star?
If anyone has taken A&P at a Lone Star over a summer session, how did you find attaining an A over the six-week period? Also, if anyone wants to part with a lab book...(?)
And I made a mistake. It should've read "Lone Star Spring 2020". Fixed it? ?

I’ve noticed that too. I didn’t know about the 88% on the HESI though, thanks for that information! I plan on retaking A&P 1 in the fall and retaking the HESI over the summer. Good luck to you this time around! ♥️

I have an 94 hesi an A in anatomy and B in English and I’m currently on the alternate list with a 7.33! The nursing directors said this was THE MOST COMPETITIVE application cycle they have ever seen! With 600 applicants! I am retaking English this summer which, with an A, will bump my score to a 7.8!!
You need two As and a high hesi!!!

I have an A in A&P and a B in English with a HESI score of 85.2. Which brings my ADN score to 6.9 or something like that. They basically are telling me to forget getting any anywhere. I am taking English this summer to try and get an A. I applied for the LVN program which they look at A&P I and II and I got A's in both so my score jumped up to a 7.408. There are only 30 spots in Montgomery and Kingwood, each, for the LVN program. So I'm not going to hold my breath. I will apply for the ADN CyFair and Kingwood in June also. If I don't get in to anything I will retake the HESI till I get 90+ on each section. I don't even know why they have us do the critical thinking since they don't even look at that score. Wish they would since I got like a 980 on it.

Not trying to sound ignorant, but I definitely did not expect such high standards for CC nursing program. B’s in prereqs & a high hesi score isnt enough as it seems.
So, you are able to retake courses and they will most certainly take whichever is higher? Say if you had a B, then took it again to get an A.

The critical thinking score is use to break a tie if two ppl have the same score
Also apparently lvn is scores differently then RN so the score you have for lvn might not be you score for RN

They will take the higher of the two grades.

I was accepted into Tomball for fall 2019. If anyone needs some insight on the general admission requirements,
Your application is based on your GPA of ENGL 1301 & AP I OR AP II, and your HESI score.
Between AP I and II they take the highest score. So if you received an A in II but a B in I they'll take the AP II score and vice-versa. For English it has to be 1301, no substituting with 1302 or any other higher level.
My stats were:
In order to calculate your score its your GPA + HESI score divided by 25. Max score is an 8 out of 8
On another note! Make sure you guys stay on top of your HEP B series as it takes a while to complete! 3 booster shots are required before you can get a quantitative titer.

What I was asking was if you take the same class twice, will they take the highest score? Or the first/latest attempt at the course? Considering you take english 121 twice for example.
