Lone Star Spring 2020 ADN

Nursing Students School Programs

Published

From reading everyone that got into Lone Star nursing programs I hypothesized one very important point. Correct me if I'm wrong but if you get anything less than A's in English and A&P there is NO chance of admission.

The only instance I calculated a chance is a "B" in English, an "A" in A&P and a perfect 100% on the HESI. Other than that, A's in your classes with a minimum 88% on the exam is my observed formula for entrance.

I see why so many (myself included) get so worked up about the HESI. Anyone else taking the test next week at a Lone Star?

If anyone has taken A&P at a Lone Star over a summer session, how did you find attaining an A over the six-week period? Also, if anyone wants to part with a lab book...(?)

No! You can apply on the last day and still get in. They base it off of scores only. No first come first serve basis.

Thank you for the response! I’m in the fall 2020 group and the responses have been bleh lol

No. The application period closes and a computer generates the scores and the schools divide up placement. It doesn’t matter when you get your application in as long as you get it in by the deadline.

Thank you! I was wondering if anyone is a current nursing student? I’m in Katy, so CyFair and Tomball are the most reasonable distance to me.

Nope! Not a first come first serve, it’s strictly a point based system. I will say though, the sooner you apply the better. If there is something wrong with the application the department will reach out to you to correct it. If you wait till last minute they usually don’t.

Thank you! I’ll make sure to get it soon! All I need is to do the titer ?

I was wondering if someone could let me know if I should retake the HESI?

I took it this past Thursday - 94.40% cumulative score, 950 critical thinking.
I have A’s in both ENG and A&P - so my score is 7.77.

I know the admission process is incredibly competitive, so I don’t know if I need to retake my HESI in hopes of making it to the program.

I would not retake it. A 7.77 would get you into every campus. I was debating on retaking mine with a 7.63 but I’ve been advised not to. There’s a chance we would over stress ourselves and get a lower score and then we would be riding the deadline. I took the HESI at tomball the day before the HESI deadline and it was like a blood bath. It’s so difficult to take the HESI in March-April because everyone is trying to take it. I’m sure you’ll get into your campus of choice with your score.

No you’re good! That’s a great score! I got in to the spring semester so I just started the program with a 7.505!

Can anyone pls guide me me how to get A in english 1301? I have got like 84% for last 3 assignment including essay

Hi,

I'm taking the HESI this March 2020, how many questions are in each section? I might be working myself, but I'm really nervous of bombing it.

@Cflores452 There are 55 questions in each required section, except for A&P. The A&P portion of the test is 25 questions. Don’t be nervous, look at Youtube videos. You got this!

Has anyone heard anything about the testing centers being open or closed ? I called again today and no one answered. I’m worried about my upcoming test on April 1st.

As of now the school is closed till Monday. Teachers are saying they will give an update tomorrow about what they plan to do.

@canickell11 Thank you for the update. Please post here for the latest information for us that aren’t in yet. Thanks a lot.
