Lone Star Spring 2020 ADN

Nursing Students School Programs

Published

From reading everyone that got into Lone Star nursing programs I hypothesized one very important point. Correct me if I'm wrong but if you get anything less than A's in English and A&P there is NO chance of admission.

The only instance I calculated a chance is a "B" in English, an "A" in A&P and a perfect 100% on the HESI. Other than that, A's in your classes with a minimum 88% on the exam is my observed formula for entrance.

I see why so many (myself included) get so worked up about the HESI. Anyone else taking the test next week at a Lone Star?

If anyone has taken A&P at a Lone Star over a summer session, how did you find attaining an A over the six-week period? Also, if anyone wants to part with a lab book...(?)

By chance, does anyone know what shoes we're allowed to wear for classes with our scrubs? Does is have to be a certain color or material? Any help is appreciated! Thank you(:

Hello, I have a 7.424, but I'm still an alternate. I'm wondering if they if there's really a chance of being called off the list.

Thank you, I got called off of the alternate list for Cyfair. Best of Luck.

Hey I know this isn't the right forum, but does anyone know what the ADN program is like at Montgomery. I'm currently in N1 at north harris but I'm thinking of transferring to montgomery. North harris has been ok so far other than being disorganized but I've heard that about all lonestar programs. I'm worried it might be harder as far as coursework, exams, and projects.

Hello everyone.

I have been accepted into cyfairs Adn program and I will be taking Micro during the program, but I am unsure in which semester of the program I should take it. Does anyone have any suggestions?

Specializes in Nursing.

Katelyn the first semester is the easiest. Hard to believe but after that you really won’t have time.

I was accepted into Tomball for fall 2019. If anyone needs some insight on the general admission requirements,

Your application is based on your GPA of ENGL 1301 & AP I OR AP II, and your HESI score.

Between AP I and II they take the highest score. So if you received an A in II but a B in I they'll take the AP II score and vice-versa. For English it has to be 1301, no substituting with 1302 or any other higher level.

My stats were:

  • AP II: A
  • ENGL: A
  • HESI: 87.6.
  • Total score: 7.504/8

In order to calculate your score its your GPA + HESI score divided by 25. Max score is an 8 out of 8

  • HESI: 87.6/25 =3.504 + 4 (GPA) = 7.504

On another note! Make sure you guys stay on top of your HEP B series as it takes a while to complete! 3 booster shots are required before you can get a quantitative titer.

Hey !! I was thinking to try the Tomball location ! How is the nursing program?? I have never heated any reviews !!! Please ,give some insides ?

Hi! I’m new here, so I’m still learning to navigate the website.

I took all classes at HCC, and have taken AP I and medical micro at Lonestar. I’m taking AP II in spring.

How do they calculate your GPA? Do they go off based on your GPA from all classes taken required for the nursing program, or just AP, English, and HESI score only? Or do they count GPA from all of your classes, including ones not necessary for nursing (like gov, literature, etc).

I just want to make sure I’m on the right track before I start studying for HESI and applying for the fall 2020. Thank you!!

Lone Star College ADN only looks at your grade for A&P I or II depending on which is higher, English and the HESI. They don’t care what your overall GPA is in any other classes. If you are looking at the LVN they look at your A&P I, A&P II and HESI score. So making sure you have A’s in those classes and the highest possible HESI score is the only way of getting a seat or an alternate spot.

Below is from LSC:

Complete the following courses with a minimum grade point average of 2.7 or higher: BIOL 2401 and ENGL 1301. (BIOL 2401 is required to meet the admission criteria; however, the highest grade in BIOL 2401 or 2402 will be used for calculation of GPA).

At the time of application a cumulative 2.0 GPA on all credit courses earned at LSCS (graduation GPA) is required.

I suggest you attend an information session at a campus you would like to attend.

Not true. I made a B in English and A's the rest of the pre reqs and I got into Lonestar.... I will be done May 2020! You might not be able to get into Cyfair or Tomball but you can get into the other campuses.
