From reading everyone that got into Lone Star nursing programs I hypothesized one very important point. Correct me if I'm wrong but if you get anything less than A's in English and A&P there is NO chance of admission.
The only instance I calculated a chance is a "B" in English, an "A" in A&P and a perfect 100% on the HESI. Other than that, A's in your classes with a minimum 88% on the exam is my observed formula for entrance.
I see why so many (myself included) get so worked up about the HESI. Anyone else taking the test next week at a Lone Star?
If anyone has taken A&P at a Lone Star over a summer session, how did you find attaining an A over the six-week period? Also, if anyone wants to part with a lab book...(?)

Ok first off I would totally recommend renting health assessment and fundamental books lol you’ll only really use it your first semester. Some used ebook but I found it difficult because the pages are different and I’m more of a physical person.
the HESI package is a definite must! You’ll have to email the pink receipt to hagel.
skills book is a must and I would definitely buy that even if it’s on amazon. Always cheaper somewhere else but the campus bookstore does price match.
dosage calculations you can rent it but I never opened mine honestly. The professors powerpoints and explanations were enough for me. It’s simple math really. Since it says required ask to make sure if you really need it. sometimes syllabus will say something is required but it really is just a suggestion

Oh yes! Rent health assessment and fundamentals but I would purchase medsurg for the second semester.
also for skills, just some advice, if you need more clarification at the back of the fundamental books you can find the skills as well

I don’t know why she warned you not to take it before the program starts. You literally have to take it during your first semester is finished, that is more work on you. I took it 2 years ago and my friends during the 1st semester of nursing school and they struggled

Just an FYI, even though they registered you for classes those dates are not set in stone. They did that to my cohort and I and they weren’t finalized until a week or two before classes ? however it does give you a really good idea of your possible schedule!
