Lone Star Kingwood 2010

U.S.A. Texas

Published

Hello everyone!

I just wanted to start a new thread for kingwood/cyfair applicants. This is the moment I have been waiting for for 2 years! :nurse: I will be turning in my application when I return from vacation next week. My score is at 11.489 as of yesterday! I took the Hesi....again....yesterday :D and will be going on vacation Mon. I don't think my score has gone in yet either.

Anyway...I'm hoping that my score will be good enough for this time around. What was everyone elses score? I think the cut off the last couple years has been 11.4.

I have created this thread because I know that this site has been extremely helpful for me! And I want to return the favor for whoever else is applying or working towards applying! Also, in order for us to chat or whatever else while we are waiting soooo long for a letter! :banghead:

If ANYONE has any questions...just ask and I will try the best of my ability to answer it. I know quite a bit about this program, so I'm sure I can help in some way! :heartbeat

OK girls! I GOT IN!!!! I got my acceptance letter today for kingwood. Good luck to the rest on you!!! I hope we all get in! :bowingpur

Congrats Coulter630! I have AP II lab tonight so I can't check my mail until 8:30. Ugh!!!! Hopefully I will see you in January.

I GOT IN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I GOT IN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :yeah:KINGWOOD HERE I COME.....THANK U JESUS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I hope all of the applicants get there acceptance letters....Good Luck to you!!!!!

I'm IN too.........:yeah:yay for all of us!!!! Just got my acceptance letter from Kingwood!!! Now we need to get to know each other....Who else is going to Kingwood and are you going day or night?

I am attending Lone Star Montgomery. I need some advice though. I am taking the core classes for the RN program but I am wondering if I should just go into the LVN program instead. The reason being is I have been unemployed since the end of January and I have been attending college all year. If I do the RN program I still have 9 core classes to take before even getting into the RN program. As far as the LVN program goes I only need one more class in the spring which is Biology I 2401. The reason why I am worried is because I have to figure out the quickest way to become a nurse so I can get a job to pay my bills. I am fortunate right now because I am getting unemployment but that will not last much longer and my husband is the only one supporting us.

So any advice out there pretty please????

Congrats to all of you who got in. I'm an alternate so hopefully I will be joining you guys!!!!:yeah::yeah::yeah:

hello, i'm pretty sure I didn't make it into the program (again). can you guys/gals that made it in, post up a in a list like with the score u have and where you got accepted to? something like

kingwood:

1. 11.45

2. next person just hit quote the post prior and add on the score.

it would be nice if we got a list going to make it easier to know what score to shoot for next application period.

TIA

my score was 11.49.

Congrats again to all that got in! I will be going during the day Mon and Tues lecture 12:30-3. Mon lab 10-12 I believe. Then clinical on Wed.

Also, there was a typo....on mine at least...the lecture days are Mon/Tues....not Tues/Wed. I spoke with someone there, b/c I confused as to how the heck we would fit in a clinical during lab and lecture....according to the days I need anyways and she told there was typo. So you may want to take that into consideration when chosing your days. See yall at orientation!!!! WOOHOOOOOO!!!!!!!

For those that didn't get in......you WILL!!! Don't get discouraged! I really really really recommend that if you have any B's or lower in A&P I or II (they will take the better grade), English, and Psych....to retake it to bring your GPA up so that you can have the whole 4 points in that block! Or get a perfect score on the reading part of the Hesi. If the problem is the Hesi, when you get your results back after taking it, on the back it should show which paragraphs and the numbers you missed. I highly recommend you get with someone who has taken it and discuss those paragraphs. This is something you probably need to do right after the next test so that it is still fresh in your minds. That is what I did....and it helped soooooooooooo much! It really took two heads for me to know where I was having the problem! Stay positive!!! Yall will get in!

As for LVN....if at all possible....I would go straight for ADN and skip the LVN. It is getting pretty tough for LVN's trying to find jobs now-a-days. I have a friend who is and it was extremely hard for her. I'm taking Micro right now and have several LVN's in there who are going back to school for RN, not saying it is difficult for them, however, many LVN's end up going back anyways! Go for the gold! God will not give you more than you can handle!!!! That's only my opinion though. If there is absolutely NO way you can do ADN, then it's really not an option. You are asking opinions, so you must have an option. I say go all the way! Good Luck!!!

cograts to all ... I also made it into the program. . I have 2 questions. What kind of drug test will we take thats $45? urine iknow we will, but are we also taking a hair follicle test> I do not do drugs but about 3 to 4 months ago I went looking for my younger sister at her friends house. Well they were smoking marijuana. I was only in there for about 10 minutes. Will 2nd hand smoke come up on a hair follicle test?:imbar

congratulations to all of you who have gotten your acceptance letters! way to go!! i was wondering if anyone happened to know what the cutoff score was this past app period for kingwood and cyfair? i, too, applied for both campuses and have not received any news yet, neither good or bad. i am sensing that because some people have already gotten their acceptance letters that i will be one of those that receives the "i am sorry to inform you letter..." but i am not sure. i am wanting to know something now, whether it is good or

bad!! has anyone gotten a not so good news letter yet?

It seems that most people who had Cyfair as their first choice haven't gotten their letter yet. What was your score and your first choice?

I have not received my letter yet and my first choice was Cyfair. I don't even live far from the school and it said they went out on the 14th. I thought I had a good score at 11.74, but now I'm worried with other people receiving their letters already. Grrr....and I thought the waiting was bad. This is just pure torture and agony now.

Anyways...Congrats to all those who got accepted and fingers crossed for those of us still waiting.
