Do you guys know what the average residency pay is at other hospitals? Not sure what to compare it to. Also the 3 year commitment is what is getting me as well ?

I think they meant 3 years total. Because it’s 1 year of the residency program and then you must commit to them another 2 years after completing the residency program.

I didn't realize the time during residency didn't count ?

I'm not sure what the other hospitals around the area are paying. Will you be accepting the position with Loma Linda?

Out of curiosity, how much are the new grads make at LLU? I was invited to an interview for them but ended up canceling it after finding out about the 3 year commitment.

They offered me starting at $37.50 with a $4 differential for night shift and a $4 differential for weekends. They explained it would go up to $41 at 6 months and then $45 at the year mark. I wasn't informed of the 3 year commitment at all, only through searching online. When they offered the job it was hinted at as a one-year commitment...

Congratulations!  Are you going to take the position? I'm surprised that is pretty low I guess. But still a great opportunity being in a trauma hospital. Which unit did you apply for? I was invited for an interview in their Psych units and was supposed to be scheduled last week. They asked me if I was interested in both inpatient and outpatient but 24 hours later after giving it careful thought, I emailed them back and respectfully declined...

Best of luck to your journey at LLU...

Thank you! I ended up declining the position for a couple reasons. Pay wasn't too big of a deal since I'm really just wanting experience (but it would be nice to get decent pay LOL). I applied for ER and they seemed to have messed up the process because I was asked to interview/got an offer for their surgical unit. They also seemed a little disorganized, and they even gave me incorrect contact info so... IDK some red flags here and there on top of a possible 3 year contract wasn't the best.

Yeah unfortunately it doesn’t ? They gave me 48 hours to respond to the offer, still considering it but honestly not sure. What about you?

I've heard a lot of hospitals in SoCal don't pay super well, especially compared to NorCal nurses ?

Totally get you girl, the pay isn’t really what’s turning me off from the position either. Not sure if you felt the same way, but I felt like I didn’t connect with the interviewers during the interview and not sure if the hospital will be a match for me.

I just had my interview yesterday and don't know if I will be receiving an offer. I was told I would hear back next week. Sounds like there is a lot to consider. What department did you interview for?

Yes! Definitely felt the same, it was a strange and somewhat awkward interview! I've heard great things about their workplace environment and culture for new grads, but something felt off. It's best to go with your gut sometimes I guess
