Okay, y'all. In spite of what some people will say, your use of language will influence what people think of you, and how intelligent and/or competent they think you are.

My current number one: You don't LOOSE your license, you lose it. (If your license is loose, you need to capture it...)

Don't even get me started on loosing YOU'RE license...

What are other some other linguistic "nails on chalkboard" for folks?

Orientate (cringe) instead of orient. "I was orienting with Jane yesterday."

Y'all is not a word, or even a proper contraction.

Lol...I was debating commenting "y'all," just as a joke.

Y'all is not a word, or even a proper contraction.

I believe you meant, "nor." Lol. Just poking fun .

Mine is the "could care less" saying, too. It is "I could NOT care less!" Meaning, I could NOT possibly care less than I already do! Why is this so hard? I hear/read very educated people use this incorrectly.

What's up with "seen?" I see that used incorrectly every single day! It drives me insane to read, "I seen it."

"I could care less"

It's COULDN'T! !!!

More random thoughts/comments:

Every time I hear someone say 'I could care less!', I feel like saying 'Really? How much less could you care?'

Y'all - now bein' from TX, y'all is perfick-ly acceptable, and 'all y'all' is simply the plural form. :^)

Seen, as in, 'I seen...' whatever. Argggggh. One of the funniest bumper stickers I've ever seen was "I SEEN ALIENS", which would be a lost joke on some people.

"I don't have no...", "He didn't tell me nothing about that", etc. I feel like taping up notices where I work saying "Every time you're about to say NO - unless it's a yes/no situation - say ANY instead".

"So yeah! ..."

"Yeah, so...".

"So, so, so...".

"So, uh, ...".

Does EVERY SENTENCE have to begin with SO now? Aieeeeeee! It drives me nuts. And I actually used to like the word.

And in other news, the Weather Channel has an article related to Hermine on horses on a barrier island in VA, I think, with this title:

"Watch: Wild Horses Could Care Less About Hermine". I'll bet they could...

Er uh, I bet they couldn't care less....

"OfTen" drives me crazy, too. I grew up being told the t was silent, and it seems to be a trend that has become popular in the past 10 years or so, so much that it is now acceptable. But I don't like it.

Yes! It sounds pretentious.

I just hate that I see or read "Anyways".

No,it is not correct.

It is "Anyway".
