Nurses General Nursing

This past summer I traveled to Montana to work in a nursing home as a favour for a friend. I was there two months, and it was hard and amazing and I'm seriously considering going back this summer.

Last night my friend called to let me know one of my favourite residents died. My heart is heavy and I'm trying to not break down in tears.

Thanks for listening.

Let the tears flow and savor the memories you made while nurturing and tending to that person during their last lap of life. Nursing homes are the end game for us and we know what the ultimate outcome will be; it's still hard and painful to let them go.

Now that I'm being rationed on the amount of posts I "like", I will say I used up a like on this. You always say it so well, OD.

I'm so sorry :( Hugs.

I'm so sorry.

I really miss working with the elderly sometimes. They really can be such a challenging and rewarding group to work with.

Hang in there.

I worked in Home Health and Nursing Home for many years before getting fortunate enough to get a School Nurse job. I love my job now, but, most definitely Home Health and Nursing Home- I was passionate about and LOVED IT!! That has been several years ago, and I still have very vivid memories of many of my favorites.

Thank you to everybody for your kind words. Found out yesterday another resident passed on the same day - she wasn't necessarily one of my favourites, but she was a presences in that place. As one person said, "she was the mayor".

It's been a rough week there. If you are the praying kind, please remember the staff in your prayers.
