i wanted to start a thread for applicants for 2011 lichson, ill like to hear your process and just be there for all and go through the wait together. :clown: i know that hard parts are over with just the gruesome part is here WAITING! hope there some ppl out there going through the same thing as i

Cochran is a good school if you're willing to do the commute. they have an info session coming up this thursday and encourage anyone interested to go. also, Monroe's program still has space in it to date. it's a "1+1" program meaning you become an LPN in 11 months, get your license, then finish your RN...but note that you have to apply separately (anew) for the RN component. good luck FARA01 and try to be positive. believe that there's a place for you in a program that's perfect for you.

I have been extremely depressed these last few days, i cant believe this is happening!!!! LICHSON is unbelievable, they should have not accepted applications for this fall if all the kinks were not worked out with the merger. I will do anything to be part of what ever petition that you guys want to put together. i will even protest with picket signs and everything !!!! lol !!!(seriously) this is our future and time is something that you could never get back!!!! Today im going to Long Island University. Thank you for the posted information on the merge. I assure you I took a note of all the addressess that you put up on your forum and i assure you they will be hearing form us as well. Also dean of LICH is a small fish, i was thinking more like the president.

By the way, thank you for the recommending me for taking a lead on the petition. I do have POSITIVE experience with petitions and i will do my best not to lead down any one you. I will be a great leader and even a better follower since a good leader MUST know how to follow as well. Together there is no limit to what we cant achieve. Lets reach for the stars. This reminds me of a great quote. I dont remember it word for word. But it goes something like this. "An individual sets a limit to the world by the horizon of his sight". Together there is nothing we cant accomplish.

MrsComboCurlz, I looked at the petition web site and i don't think its a good idea based on this examples. First, petition will be available through Facebook where we are all aware that the Dean of LICH monitors it very closely and we don't want the school to know just yet because we dont want them to be ready. we want to catch them of-guard. Second of all, i do not understand how is it direct line with congress, senators, president. We need to notify specific people not just everybody because lets face nobody really cares unless those people were directly involved with the merge. (I got the names of all concilman/women and senators who were involved). So i dont really see how it is helpfull to us honestly but i cant make a decision on my own. I would like to hear what others think and than we will make a decision together as a unit

SUNY Downstate acquired both the hospital and the school of nursing through the merger. Why not reach out to SUNY Downstate to see what the plan might be "Do they plan on continuing the School under SUNY at any time - just not able to start in the Fall or no school at all?

LICHSON was taken over by SUNY on May 31st! From May 31st all decision are coming from SUNY -- they have the answers not the individuals who you were speaking to at LICHSON prior to May 31st.

i dont want to burst anyone's bubbles...but the staff at lichson could also be very likely looking at this page. you do not need an account to read the forum, i would always read this forum before i signed up. all they have to do is google it and since someone stated a while back that they caught wind of this forum, i would not be surprised if they have already seen it. so if everyone is planning on this petition catching them off guard, i wouldnt be so sure that that's the case. i am still signing the petition, i am just warning everyone. also, i called lichson yesterday and what i was told was that they were waiting for a statement from downstate as we speak as to whether or not there will be a class. i was kind of abrupt w her and told her listen this is not a joke anymore, do you realize its the middle of june? she just replied by saying she is just a receptionist. that is the only update i have.

What you people don't understand? LICH peronel themselves don't know what is going to happen . In this situation what do you want them to answer to you? It is above their control because the control is taken by Downstate institution...If you want answers contact Downstate institution and find out what is going on.

Exactly what I have been saying -- the staff does not have the answers (lay off) -- call SUNY downstate directly I gave the info in a prior response.

Unless you receive an official letter or call from SUNY - anything is possible!

Like i said before the people wened to contact are the pesidents and cfos of both downstate and lich bcause they are key players in the merger. Cfo= chief financial officers. They deal with the money

I got got good news for you all. First thing is first, I contacted the Carroll Gardens Neighborhood Association and spoke to the president herself regarding our situation who was outraged about the situation and said that this is unacceptable and she she will take action to help us in our cause. She gave me a lot of phone numbers of individuals from U.S. Senate, City Council, president of LICH, different news stations including the carrol gardens patch news. She said she will call all of them to notify them of this situation and told me to call them as well. Furthermore, she said we SHOULD DEFINITELY create a petition as well. I was already contacted by New York Post newspaper and gave them them our story. You can read all about it in tomorrows NY POST newspaper. He said it will be short though about 6 inch. in length since this is not exactly top breaking news but at least we will get the word out. I will keep you posted on all the news.

well, i think its a little more than 10. Its hard to know because a few applicants didnt put a number next to them in the forum like i asked so its really hard to know the exact number. i think its a little over 10 people. I would ask that whoever agreed to to sign the petition and didnt put a corresponding number to them PLEASE do so. It is very important to do that since time has come for action. Thank You
