CeceStar5, I read up on information on what the petition suppose to include. We need 1). Reason for petition. 2). Explain how to fix the problem 3). Why it would be beneficial. 4). Heading for the petition.
Having said that I dont think saying the word SCRAP is professional or appropriet for that matter. Moreover, I think we need to say "Long Island College Hospital School of Nursing" rather than just Long Island College school. We need to state the reason for petition explain how to fix it and why it would be beneficial to community. I am currently working on how to write a petition based on this official guidlies and will post it either today or tomorrow. After everyone agrees on it we will meet up and sign it. Once again it needs to be ASAP.
P.S. I am a little confused. In my case I went through 2 interviews and was told I will be notified of weather I am accepted or not in second week of june. Did anyone here actually got an official acceptance letter from school ? not a phone call or anyhting. Actually in writing.
I had one interview with the director of the evening program and received a phone call a little while after of my acceptable into the program. I then met with ********* who is the financial person and in charge of registering the students and she did give me an acceptance letter. This was a year ago as I still needed one more class to complete in my college. I gave a $500 deposit to save my seat for this year. I did meet with her a few weeks ago and am supposed to see her this Monday to complete registration. Because of this news I did wrote her an email today asking about this issue and am waiting for a reply. Once I receive any news I will post it here.

I would never start a petition like that lol. I was trying to get an idea of how to write the petition. I have no experience in writing petitions. I used a sample from google just to get an idea of how to get started and tried to fit LICHSON in it.. I can not do this petition alone. I am going to need help. I will post what Ideas and maybe someone can edit it and then go from there.
Good Morning all,
I have written a petition. Tell me what you think.
Stop the SUNY Downstate’s Decision to freeze admissions to Long Island College Hospital School of Nursing’s Fall 2011 Cohort
To: LICH and SUNY Downstate’s Chief Financial Officers and Presidents, Carroll Gardens Councilman, Dean of LICHSON General Public, Governors
Sponsored by: We, the applicants and supporters of the Long Island College School of Nursing (LICHSON) urge the chief financial officers, Presidents and those affiliated with the merger between Long Island College Hospital and SUNY Downstate to continue the admissions of prospective students for the fall 2011. We understand that the fate of Long Island College School of Nursing has been put in jeopardy during the process of the merger.
We, the Undersigned, believe that the Long Island College School of Nursing should continue admissions for fall 2011, for the reasons mentioned below.
Specifically, we believe that the Long Island College Hospital School of Nursing has:
•Long Island College Hospital School of Nursing (LICHSON) is one of the oldest schools of nursing in the United States.
•LICHSON has a long tradition of teaching excellence and a mission of providing superior patient care.
•The original goals of quality care and teaching are as evident at LICHSON now as they were over 100 years ago. The school has done well in providing education for students and prepares them for the nursing profession.
•The school does this by preparing graduates to incorporate the knowledge and the competencies necessary to problem solve, think creatively, and promote interdisciplinary collaboration with health care providers in caring for patients and families.
•Eliminating the school and/or impeding the admissions for fall 2011 will disrupt LICHSON’s legacy and remove discontinue community’s involvement in health related activities.
We, the Undersigned, ask that you reflect on this petition, and consider that Long Island College Hospital School of Nursing have excelled and continue to excel in various fields. We believe that the school must continue admissions in order to continue to produce more inspired individuals and carry on the tradition of encouraging excellence.
Sincerely,

I agree, where did everyone go? I guess they had other plans, but I am holding an acceptance letter and still going to meet with the registrar tonight and see what's going on.
VegaStar88, we are all still here. Please post anything that you find out today after speaking with registrar. I am extreamly curious to hear what are they going to tell you. Thank you and Good Luck.

I think one of the problems is that many people that go to this school or are scheduled to start have no clue as to what is going on. If it is true that letters will be going out then hopefully many others will join in this fight. If only there was a way to reach the rest of the students.
