license to endorse to FLORIDA

Published

Hi RNs! I need help/opinion/info..

i applied at New Mexico to take NCLEX and took the exam in Hong Kong, i luckily passed the exam. I am now to endorse my license to Florida, and i have read the procedure of endorsement application to Florida. It says there that i need to obtain a fingerprint card again, it lead me to the website where i can order a card but then only US residents can avail it because the address to fill up is within USA only. Does anyone knows where to purchase/order a Florida fingerprint card for non US residents?

:typingDoes any body here have endorse his/her license to florida from other states?

See Suzanne's above post, Florida will only endorse foreign nurses after they have experience, if you don't meet their experience requirement you won't be able to get a license..

hi i am also on h4 visa looking for florida licence endorsement, right now i have vermount rn licence. could you please let me know what you did for florida rn licence endorsement

please read what we have posted above, unless you have two years of work experience here then florida is not going to permit you to endorse to them. they also require the ces, which is a credentials evaluation that is done by cgfns. but before you spend one penny on doing anything, please check the visa bulletin and see how far back visas are retrogressed. for india, it is more than 6 years, for the others it is close to three.

licensure does not give one permission to work in any capacity in the us. a proper visa must be in your possession that will permit you to work. that is impossible to get at this time. the us has also been under a retrogression for more than two years already as well.

not sure how many years that your spouse has on their h1-b visa, but a very good chance that you will not be able to even file for the adjustment of status until that is over with. even if you are now living in florida, or plan to be, there is nothing that you can do with your visa that you are on to permit you to be able to work at this time as well. until visas are current or you have a pd date that is current, then no employer can file for anything more than the i-140 at this time. even if you would qualify for the h1-b visa, the issue is that fl will not issue a license to you without the work experience in the us first. much has already been written on this topic. there is no way for anyone to endorse there if they are a foreign graduate and do not have work experience in the us already.

this also applies to those that already hold the green card as well.

i would recommend that you take the time to do some reading on this site as to what is happening right now.

FL has the most stict rules and regulation and they keep changing it evry now and then. I fugure out the reason why they have high demands of nurse there, RNs couldnt get in because of the strict rules leading them to work to other states instead.

Florida has a high need of nurses, not because of rules, but because it is one of the poorer paying states with poorer treatment of nurses.

The conditions are rougher, the patients older, sicker and more difficult to care for, and as the majority of patients are covered by medicare/caid, reimbursement is getting cut back more and more. Nurses get worked hard during the busy season, and low censused in the slow season (though no low season at my current facility this year).

Some of the local hospitals were also in the habit of importing Philippine nurse/grads, which some failed boards after financial investment in them had been made, or importing them under "specialist" visas, when they did not qualify.

Within the last two years, I have worked in at least one facility that imported a substantial number of Indian nurses, that had little experience. Trying to get them "up to speed" was difficult enough with cultural issues, language issues...dealing with little experience was a nightmare. They were wonderful people and deserved better than the treatment that they often got from others, because it was just too much to adjust to in the time expected.

I realize this is a bit late, but I just looked at the Florida BON site and it says:

Q: Can I endorse into Florida if I have an active license in another state but have never taken the NCLEX or State Board Test Pool exam.

A: If you can prove you have been working in another state, jurisdiction or U.S. territory for 2 of the last 3 years you may apply by endorsement.

So it appears, based on this statement, that you can endorse into Florida from another state as long as you have taken the NCLEX exam (or State Board Test Pool exam).

if you are a foreign trained nurse who hasn't worked in the us or its jurisdiction then this is where there may be problems

a: if you can prove you have been working in another state, jurisdiction or u.s. territory for 2 of the last 3 years you may apply by endorsement.

but i think you have taken the answer out of context. that answer is the answer to:

can i endorse into florida if i have an active license in another state ]but have never taken the nclex or state board test pool exam.

why would they state but have never taken the nclex or state board test pool exam. if that text was meaningless?

Maybe so but someone who has a active license but not sat NCLEX or state board is more than likely someone who has been nursing in the US for decades. I would say that for at least 20 years (not sure when NCLEX actually came into being) to nurse in the US you will have had to sat NCLEX and passed to have a active license

Sorry last reply was not complete.

Basically what I mean is this: If one is a foreign-trained nurse, one could pass the requirements for the California license (INCLUDING the NCLEX exam, of course) and then receive a California license. Since one would then possess an active California license AND have passed the NCLEX, they should be able to endorse into Florida without having worked in California because the ("but have never taken the NCLEX or State Board Test Pool exam.") issue would no longer apply.

But unless they have a SSN then Ca will not issue a license. We have had members post that they had problems endorsing to Florida and they was in the US with a work visa and had a license issued in another state but hadn't worked in the state and Florida would not allow them to endorse. At the end of the day the decision is with the BON

My husband is a USC, so no problem there--a green card is automatic. I already have an SSN.

I haven't seen a thread that specifically said that the reason that they could not endorse was not having worked in the state in which they are licensed. I've seen lacking educational credentials, no SSN, no work authorization, no NCLEX, etc. But I couldn't find one that said, "lack of work experience". I've seen speculation to that effect, but no one that said, "this is why I was denied."

If anyone can direct me to a thread in which someone was told that they were denied in Florida due to lack of work experience, please let me know! :)

You just need to complete requirements for endorsement with Florida. There may be different requirements if you trained outside the US. This thread is in the International forum
