license to endorse to FLORIDA

Published

Hi RNs! I need help/opinion/info..

i applied at New Mexico to take NCLEX and took the exam in Hong Kong, i luckily passed the exam. I am now to endorse my license to Florida, and i have read the procedure of endorsement application to Florida. It says there that i need to obtain a fingerprint card again, it lead me to the website where i can order a card but then only US residents can avail it because the address to fill up is within USA only. Does anyone knows where to purchase/order a Florida fingerprint card for non US residents?

:typingDoes any body here have endorse his/her license to florida from other states?

My husband is a USC, so no problem there--a green card is automatic. I already have an SSN.

I haven't seen a thread that specifically said that the reason that they could not endorse was not having worked in the state in which they are licensed. I've seen lacking educational credentials, no SSN, no work authorization, no NCLEX, etc. But I couldn't find one that said, "lack of work experience". I've seen speculation to that effect, but no one that said, "this is why I was denied."

If anyone can direct me to a thread in which someone was told that they were denied in Florida due to lack of work experience, please let me know! :)

--- i have the same question tainscough.. and i'm also confuse by the speculations about the 2 to 3 years experience for foreign graduates..

i'm already eligible to take the NCLEX for CA, and i only have a month to study.. but i decided to start from scratch..

Hi guys, i also have an H4 visa and currently endorsing my license here in FL. its under process now, i sent my CES already and im trying my luck to get a license even though i dont have yet my SSN. FL BON acknowledge my application and was told that an actual licnese would not be given unless one has an SSN. They will provide temporary license and will give one year to comply with it, afterwhich one can apply for an extension waiting period for SSN and pay for a fee.

i only have one year of experience as an RN and they didnt question me for the working experience. just so you know.

Hi,

I am a nurse in the Philippines but currently I am in FLorida as a tourist. I passed the NCLEX - California last february, as well as the IELTS. For now, I am waiting for my Visa Screen Certificate to come out.

I already have an employer here in FLorida who is wiling to sponsor / petition me for an H1B visa. In fact, I already have signed the Job Offer which signifies the acceptance of the position they offered me. So what I need to do is convert my tourist visa into a working visa.

I need some enlightenment on how to go with the whole process since the BON that I applied for NCLEX is California, and I know for a fact that I will not be able to claim my license in California without a Social Security NUmber.

MY aunt told me that when I finally have the VIsa Screen Certificate, I can already process my papers for the Working Visa, with the help of the HOspital's lawyer. By then, when my working visa comes out, I can already have a Social Security NUmber which is a prelude to claiming my license in California. AM i right?

If for instance, I have the California license, can I apply in Florida a Licensure by Endorsement? or the 2years experience they require still apply in my case? I really hope not.

I really need your help on this matter. I hope to get a reply from you soon. THank you very much. I wish I will be eligible to work in Florida before my allowable stay here expires, which is November 28, 2009...

THank you very much!

Hi julie i think we'r in the same situation somehow. i think you could endorse your license to Florida even though u dont have 2 year experience and the SSN. I have endorsed my license from New Mexico to FL w/o the 2yr work exp and d SSN, however FL BON only issued me a 30 day temporary license to practice and a year to comply with the SSN.

Please check first Cali BON for proper procedure coz i think every state have diff rules and regulations.

You need to go home and wait for retrogression to end. Hospital's can not issue visas and you do not qualify for H1B. You can not get a California License without a SSN. You can not get a SSN without a green card .

You also have to with the Florida Board of Nurse - last I heard the Florida Board of Nursing requires experience before they can endorse a license in Florida.

Overstaying your tourist visa can effect your chances of getting a green card later on.

In summary, a new grad does not qualify for H1B visa. You may not be able to get a Flordia license since you since they require foreign nurses to have experience. Last there is a wait for retrogression. Sorry.

THanks medsurg32RN! :)

thanks for the reply! but i have a one year experience in emergency room back in the Philippines. that is even one of the criteria why they accepted me for the job.

the HUman Resources Department of the said hospital also told me that they will be able to petition me for a working visa since their hospital is a non-profit hospital, with all expenses paid since they have their own hospital lawyer. In fact I have a 2-year contract with them. ANd once I have the VIsa Screen certificate, they said I can start processing my working visa, in addition to the Job Offer / Sponsorship letter from the hospital petitioning me.

I have a friend who is also from the Philippines who has the same situation as mine. She went here in FLorida as a tourist. She passed the NCLEX - CAlifornia, but she did not have her license yet since she didnt have a SSN. However, when she found a hospital who would sponsor her for an H1B, they processed it right away and she had her SSN thereafter. After that, she claimed her license in California, and applied for reciprocity in FLorida. SHe also had a one year experience back in the Philippines. And before her 6months stay here expired, she was able to convert her visa into an H1B and currently she's working here in FLorida.

Well, I just really hope the same thing will happen to me too.

THank you very much for your reply. I'll think about it really.

Hi KARLEON!

thank you very much for that. i feel a little bit more relieved.

but i just wanna ask, did you have your New Mexico license at hand when you applied for reciprocity in FLorida? Because they said SSN is needed for licensure by endorsement in FLorida. I really hope the same thing will happen to me.

I hope I'd be able to get in touch with you. ARe you also here in FLorida right now? ANd you also came from the Philippines?

Thank you very much for the help!

THanks medsurg32RN! :)

Either you need to prove that the hospital that is employing you requires all BSN or you have completed the certification exam (which requests more than one year's experience) otherwise someone is being less then truthful. Also does not qualify you for immigration so after 3-6 years you have to return home.

"A subjective group that may receive H1B approval includes those who have a nursing specialty such as critical care and peri-operative nurses, or who have passed examinations based on clinical experience in school health, occupational health, rehabilitation nursing, emergency room nursing, critical care, operating room, oncology, and pediatrics, but who are not APRNs. In these cases, the petitioner must show that the nature of the particular position is so specialized and complex that one would normally expect the person performing the duties to have attained a bachelor's (or higher) degree, or its equivalent."

I would also check with the Florida BON, they require a SSN to issue a license and you don't have any license to endorse.

A hospital lawyer is not looking out for your best interest and won't care if you get deported. Best of Luck.

You can not apply for a SSN until you have a legal work or immigrant visa. You also can not stay in the US whilst waiting for your H1b to be processed especially if you time is running out. You need to ask Florida about whether they will issue you with a license without the 2 year requirements as we have had a couple of members post they had problems. If they stick to their guns and will not issue you with a license then you will have an issue getting your H1b visa

I will be contacting the FLorida BON regarding that.

Thanks for the guidance.

"Either you need to prove that the hospital that is employing you requires all BSN " ............."the petitioner must show that the nature of the particular position is so specialized and complex that one would normally expect the person performing the duties to have attained a bachelor's (or higher) degree, or its equivalent." --- With regards to this, YES, the Unit which they will be assigning me is a Telemetry Step Down Unit and the HUman Resource DEpartment Head said that in this Unit, they need nurses with a BSN degree. Then maybe, I have hope on this regard.

"A subjective group that may receive H1B approval includes those who have a nursing specialty such as critical care and peri-operative nurses, ...... rehabilitation nursing, emergency room nursing, critical care, operating room, oncology, and pediatrics, but who are not APRNs" === I was trained in the Emergency Room for a year. I hope I will be considered to be part of this group.

I really appreciate all your help. Thank you so much for the information.
