Ok my otoscope died. Its' an old Welch Allyn, tried a new battery, new bulb, nothing works I think it is finally ready to go to the graveyard. What does everyone here have in their office? A nice one, a cheap one, one you like one you hate?

I have what was here when I took over. Its a Welch Allyn, basic hand held one. The bottom unscrews to recharge the battery. Works fine I guess, I don't have alot to compare it to.

ok, so my relatively new welch allyn went on the fritz - so i got alloyed when i put my budget in and ordered not only the bits needed to try and fix the WA, but a Piccolight and some cheapie ent set. I was able to fix the welch allyn, the piccolight is great, but i find myself reaching for that cheapie ent set everytime.

I have a Welch-Allyn I inherited with my office. I like it well enough. I had an off brand one at a camp I worked at this summer and my beef with it was I couldn't find speculae that fit it well other than the reusable ones that came with it, which I blew through in a few weeks (swimmer's ear anyone?). I kept throwing them away, thinking they were disposable.

I had the same issue with my WA otoscope. One day it just did not work anymore. Purchased new battery and bulb with no luck. Finally, I thought to clean the battery contact points. I used a long q-tip and some rubbing alcohol and removed a bunch of gunk. Voila! Good as new!
