I know the feeling of guilt if you can't find a sub... I hope you take off either way! Don't work sick!

I want to take a day off for a mental health day, but I don't get any PTO until I have finished 60 working days at my new school. So that will be in May. Also, I'm praying that I don't get sick or my kids don't get sick since I can't take off.

I'm here. It's only 9:02, but I've already gotten the "my kid has had lice six times, what are you going to do about it?" rant. Spring break (next week) can't come fast enough...

i guess technically i won't be "here" for 2 days this week- i'll be in the office doing more screenings with the help of a sub. I'll try to check in if i get a chance

YES YOU ARE! That's BS. Of course you can be sick. It's up to the school to find someone, not you.

Call out - if you feel guilty about it, you can make a few "good faith calls" to subs if you have them. If you don't have any subs in your coffers, well shame on your district for not planning on the fact that you are a human being and not a robot (and heck, even computers get viruses!) They need to have a contingency plan for you. You are allotted sick days for a reason. Use them! We keep an agency on retainer for the times when i may be out and can't get coverage of for those field trips that need a nurse but can't get coverage. It's expensive, but necessary.
