hi everyone! i'm holli. i took boards on june 13th and passed with 75 questions. i am starting work on july 18th at the only hospital i ever wanted to work for. it is a great pediatric facility! i will be on the (post-op) surgical floor, and we also have all of the endocrine kids. also, they just added an epilepsy monitoring unit, for overnight monitoring and for the brain mapping they are doing. i expressed an interest in that, so they will cross-train me in that unit as well. i can't wait to get started!

so, tell me about you...

Hi everyone!!

I'm Erica and I graduated from nursing school August 18th, 2006 with my MN. The day after I graduated I moved from Cincinnati, Ohio to Phoenix, Arizona. I haven't taken the NCLEX yet, i'm waiting for my ATT. I started my orientation in a HUGE neuro ICU and i'm really liking it:) I work third shift.

I just got hired today!

I was hired in the past, but never started due to a badly broken ankle....

I am actually happy the way things turned out. I feel good about the hospital and the position I chose. I interviewed for 3 places, and though the other places were great, i felt too nervous about them. The 3rd one turned out to feel just right. I really hope it is a good fit.

Its a tele unit at a community hospital. The patients are not really sick (at one of the other interviews, they claimed that most of the patients were difficult/really sick).

Good luck to all the other new nurses out there too!

Hi, my name is Sara, but everyone calls me Doll. I am graduating in December. Were there any resources or support services anyone used to help with the transition from student nurse to graduate nurse? If so, could you let me know. Thanks

I have no clue, I dread every moment of it, because I missed my friends badly, and I still do, however, I guess when we find jobs, that will all change.

Hi everyone! I graduated in May 2006, passed my NCLEX with 75 questions and was hired into the operating room in July. I am currently in AORN's Peri-Operative 101 class. It consists of 5-6 weeks of class lectures and 5 months of orientation with different preceptors. I just started my orientation with a preceptor this week, see how it goes. Good Luck everyone and congrats to all the new nurses.

Hi! I graduated in May '06...took my boards in june and passed, now I am working in an ED (still in the training program with preceptor).

Hi Holly. Kristy here. I also just took the boards and passed with 91 questions. I moved a week ago to Charleston, SC and I LOVE it here!!! Im so excited, I just got a new job today and I cant wait to start working as a nurse! I just have one question, and I dont know where to post it. I was employed by a pulmonologist office. They do bone scans... alot! I was just wondering if you knew, or knew anyone who would know, why would a pulmonologist do these test?? My mom had one done by her arthritis dr... I just thought it'd be nice to know this info for my first day!!

Well, my best guess would be that lung cancer tends to metastasize to the bone early in the course of the disease. So if there's a spot on the lung that could be cancer, the next logical thing before or after biopsy would be to do a bone scan. I could be way out in left field here... The pulmonary nursing forum at https://allnurses.com/forums/f45/ might be a good place to post your question and see what the pulmonary nurses have to say.

Hello all...I graduated in August with my ASN & went to work 2 weeks later as a GN in a Long Term Acute Care facility. I just took & passed my boards at the end of September, so I'm about as "newbie" as you can get! :)
