Let me paint you a picture

We all have those days where you go to change a resident's brief, that's soiled through to the bed. And you get done rolling this 270 lb man and do a complete bed change.

And he goes again all over the bed.

So you do another bed change.

And he goes again all over the bed.

So you do another bed change......

...

And he goes again all over the bed.

Think the OP just wanted to vent a little , that's all. Vent all you want!

People sure are getting all banged up about Op's post. Op was venting on a nursing forum about something frustrating that we have likely experienced and understand. Sometimes you gotta laugh or you're gonna cry... vent or blow up!

We have threads about "Your Most Gross, Yucky, Disgusting, Nursing Horror Story" where nurses and aides tell stories like OP's. There are many many other vent threads, as well. I'm not sure why this poster got jumped on so harshly.

I remember (how can I ever forget!) having this experience with an LTC resident who had just passed away, only with lots and lots of blood mixed in

While I was outwardly calm, I was inwardly freaking out because my resident's daughter was on the way. I couldn't let the daughter see her mom with blood streaming out of every orfice! The bed looked like a horror movie! I got it done, but you can believe your hot tootsies that "fuuuuuuu--" went through my mind too.

why is everyone jumping on this person who just wanted to vent a little and blow off some frustration? haven't any of you had a day where you just felt like you were running in circles because I know I sure have! no the patient wasn't being made fun of the op was just describing a bad day. we've all had our share of heavy patient care and it doesn't make it a good day it makes it a day you probably want to let off some steam! we signed on for nursing care and providing quality care but I left my saint hat at the door!

We all have our daily ordeals in this nursing field OP, Id just take care to keep it off this forum (unless you're looking for those kinds of responses again)

Op I hear you. I understand the vent. Some people just have to get on their high horse and jump down your throat for no reason. The fact you continued to clean the patient up after each mess, tells me how dedicated you are to your job. Thank you. If we can't vent amongst ourselves to people that have experienced the monotony of our job, who can we? A high five to infinite0meow.

Ah yes. I was never a tech/aide but as a bedside nurse I surr dealt with patients battling C. diff or enduring a bowel prep or some other bowel infliction.

It is the rare hospital or facility that has the staff necessary to adequately care for individuals like these.

It is time consuming and back breaking for the staff, and embarrassing and painful (especially too many liquid BMs) for the patient.

Hope you and the patient are feeling better.

I just started as a tech and i completely understand, OP! We love our jobs and our patients and what we do but some days it's so tough. . Idk why this post got jumped on lol but you're definitely not alone . Some days its just hard and no one's fault

I agree with a poster above. If we can't vent here, where can we vent?

Side note: If I see the patient is going while I'm changing the bed over and over, I place chucks in the front and back to protect the bed while I'm turning. Then I remove them when I'm done.
