Lehman College 2018 Fall Generic BSN/ABSN applicants!

Published

Hello, everyone applying to Lehman's BSN/ABSN programs for Fall 2018!

I am currently working on my application and will very soon take HESI. I know application period does not start until January 1, but I thought I would create a thread so we could get in touch and support each other on the way to (keeping fingers crossed!) being accepted!

So does anyone know if theres a pdf of the Pathophysiology study guide for NUR 344?

The professor said in an email to bring a combination lock to store our belongings in a locker nears the skills lab and not to bring "unnecessary bulky items"

I had my first clinical already. It is absolutely okay to SHOW UP to the on-campus and hospital clinicals in your uniform. Of the 5 professors that were there, all said you just should not leave the hospitals in the uniforms. They dont even think it's a good idea to bring a bookbag to the hospitals. They were emphasizing that they barely have room to store our belongings. Some keep them in locked rooms and one said they had 2 really small lockers for everyone to share.

As far as the lockers on-campus we didnt use any. We left our book bags in the classroom that everyone was in. Really just took our personal belongings and checklists when we had to leave the class to different rooms (to perform each of the modules). You go back to the main classroom a lot so everyone was okay leaving their bags.

I hope this helps a little.

Good luck and have fun (I did lol)

Thanks for the info! However, I am a bit confused when you said that we can show up to the hospital wearing uniforms but should not leave the hospital wearing uniforms. if this is true, that means we still have to bring some change of clothes. Am I getting it right?

Your clinical instructor will explain this to you. I had clinical today and the professors said it was ok to show up in your uniform but ultimately it's up to your instructor.

This is more accurate. I was having the same thoughts about still having to bring a change of clothes.

I was wondering if anyone is doing study groups for the exams that are coming up? I and my clinical group are taking a chapter each and summarizing it up and trying to shorten it to make a study guide for the exams. I feel unprepared for exams, but if anyone has any ideas or have a study group I am all for attending.

Hello - This was probably already answered in the thread but I was wondering if anyone knows... Can you apply to the nursing program while you are still taking pre-requisites? I am looking to apply to the Summer 2019 accelerated program but I still need to take Organic Chemistry in Spring 2019. Does anyone know if all other prereqs are completed and HESI exam is completed if I can still apply? Or do all prereqs need to be completed before Spring 2019?

Thank you!!!

I think you should be fine. However, I'd double-check with the nursing department since they did mention they are considering changing start dates for accelerated students.

Okay I will! Thank you!!

Is there anyone specific in the nursing department to speak with? I'm currently taking my prereqs at another CUNY school so I don't really know any of the advisors/who would be best to ask?

I just checked the website and it states "Applicants must successfully complete all the following nursing prerequisite courses before spring 2019". So, I guess the answer would be no. However, you can try talking to someone from the department for any further information.

Hello,

I hope all of you are doing well, and goodluck on finals week!

I just wanted to ask if you think studying for a month (6-8hrs) a day for the Hesi exam is enough ?

Are you asking as a pre-nursing student who will take HESI entrance exam, or as an actual student who will be studying for HESIs coming up next week?

If you are a pre-nursing student taking HESI entrance exam, I think studying 6-8 hours a day for a month is excessive. I think if you did well in all tested subjects (math, reading, A&P, CT) you will be fine on the HESI with minimum-moderate study. I would suggest study about 2-3 hours for two weeks leading up to the exam. Practice as many questions as you can get your hands on. There is no way (I am speculating) to study for CT so you may want to practice some NCLEX style questions you can find online.
