For those of you who have recognized your employer can terminate you for not taking the COVID vaccine and have decided on or are considering employment elsewhere please share your experiences here. How do you feel about having to make that choice?

The purpose of this thread is not to condemn those making this decision or debate whether they should vaccinate or not.

What I am curious to know is... What did I have and how  would we know ?  Was it just COVID-19 SARS-2 OR THE DELTA VARIANT OR WHAT WAS IT?  I have no further documentation suggesting that they did more testing to see what strain of COVID-19 I had or did I even have it?

You will have to inquire how your state is testing and cataloguing the covid tests.  I know that in Alaska and Wyoming the positive swabs are sent to the state genetics lab where the specimens are processed for sequencing.  That takes about 48 hours to completely run the process, reconnect the results with the individual test and report to the state department of health.  Delta is the most common cause of covid infection in most states and regions right now.

Currently, our health system is reflecting the consequences of attempting to achieve herd immunity through exposure to the contagion and infection, rather than immunization.  How would you say that's going so far?

Live your Best Life and do what you want be who you want to be, protect your family, make smart choices , wash your hands, don't go out into public if you are sick, be respectful of others choices, don't judge and just LIVE YOUR BEST LIFE!  !

WE ALL want to be able to live our best life. But I (and you) are one car accident from needing a trauma surgeon and/or ICU care. How will you feel if you or a loved one can't get any medical attention for 100s of miles d/t beds and EDs being clogged up with COVID positive patients? I know my answer.

I know a person who broke his femur and needs surgery to fix it. Problem? No space or surgeon to care for him. So there he sits with a major fracture of the largest bone there is, and possible loss of the functioning of his limb, because he can't get it to get it taken care of?

Where did I attempt to?

You were being informed that you weren't being addressed.

chill.

But since you want to respond, it's horrible to see that type of language used to refer to the unvaccinated.  They will be "weeded out".  Where else in our profession do we speak of the dying that way?

Tone is hard to read over text/typing. But you sound very condescending when you say you were not addressing someone. Maybe chill on that?

Since we are playing the blame game, one could argue "tough, you could have broken your leg bone where more doctors were available. You should have thought ahead. Tough." You want to blame the unvaccinated for the pandemic. Well I blame the person with the fracture for not being more careful. How bout that? Seem reasonable?

How bout we just deny care to everyone who lives a poor lifestyle? You see how absurd the blame game gets? The pandemic is the corona virus fault. It's not it's. We are dealing with this the best we can in what ever unique circumstances we are in. The more we play the blame game, the less progress we make.

Refusing to vaccinate in the absence of contraindication is not really am example of doing the best we can.  Clearly, the unvaccinated could do better but they choose not to.

The only way that progress isn't made is if the unvaccinated dig in their heals and double down on emotional excuses to remain unvaccinated.  Sometimes that belligerent persistence is based in pride.

If it were you, and this happened how would you feel? How would you feel if your loved one were suffering for no good reason d/t unavailability of beds in any hospital miles around????

YES I blame COVID for taking up all the damned beds! You bet. Not going to deny it.

Exactly my point. Blaming the victim is ridiculous. Same with covid. How bout if you personally don't want the vaccine for whatever reason? And you live alone 90% of the time. But you are blamed for a lack of ICU beds in an entirely different state. That's ridiculous. So yes. Blame covid. blaming the unvaccinated is absurd. We are all in this. The vaccine is not as perfect as I've seen it claimed on here given that this thing mutates. This pandemic won't suddenly disappear if 75% have gotten the shot (I think we are getting close to 70 with at least one shot as it is. Notice it hasn't disappeared). Or even 100%. It might go away quicker. It might not. It might never go away. It's only been a year. Let's all stop blaming the victims. All us humans are victims in this whether vaccinated or not.

I am not blaming the true victim. You know, the one who got his vaccine and is not taking up a bed in the hospital.  The guy who may lose functioning of his leg. That one.

And I would rather not be a victim. So I take all reasonable precautions not to be.

It all started with me saying:

"Respectfully, I was asking them not you."

There was no intent of condescension.

There's also some history behind that user but I'll leave that alone.

Thank you for keeping the peace though ?

You are welcome. I think you are articulate and well-spoken. I like debating with you and others. I try to stay respectful but I have  come across as condescending myself on some occasions. I try to correct that.
