Doesn't it just drive you insane when someone tells you that Mr. Smith's O2 STAT is 96%?

It's O2 SAT people! Sat, short for saturation. I even hear respiratory therapists saying this. I am sooooo tempted to say something next time, but I know it's just petty, so I needed to vent here. Thank you.

Unfortunately, a good many of those unused apostrophes ended up in babies' names. A'liyah, De'angelo, U'nique. That's what happens when people carelessly leave punctuation lying around. :D

In defense of the letter "d" ...

Poor Letter D. You are increasingly forgotten and abandoned as the useful tool that you are to make verbs past tense. Sentence structure flounders without you. I'm not sure why you're forgotten after elementary school. Twenty minutes of perusing allnurses.com reveals phrases such as, "I was suppose to ....." and countless others. How can we support you, and make sure you are used to your fullest potential?

:yeah:

Don't forget "ice tea," and "do you want your ice tea sweeten or unsweeten?" Yikes, drives me bananas.:D

HA, RN/Writer!! Theirs' also quiet a few of them over on Craigslist actively involved in the rehoming of puppys' and cat's.

My employer offered a class on conflict resolution. The lecturer kept pronouncing it "conflick".. He even wrote it on the board in big letters "CONFLICK".. I was like, "Holy cow! What do I do? Do I raise my hand and tell him? Do I wait until after class?" I ended up chickening out of the whole thing.. I wonder if anyone else ever had the guts to tell the poor guy?...

How can someone teach conflict resolution and not know the word? Spell check? Literature on the topic? Does he think the word "conflict" is something different than the "conflick" he lectures about? "How strange that thered be two words with such similar meaning... oh well"

At my most recent job, a corporate nurse hired to "fix" the building for state survey was heard saying "Send her to the ER Room." GAAAAAAAAAAAAAAH!

One that really bothers me is "limp" nodes. It is extremely hard for me to keep from cracking up on that one. It really sounds like a personal problem! I've had a few pts that have called their lymph nodes that, too. The larnyx and pharnyx really bug me. Also, I have heard that you could take a pulse ox in the "cartridge" of the ear!

LOL! Oh No...it's checking the O2 "stat" in the ear "cartridge"....:lol2:
