Doesn't it just drive you insane when someone tells you that Mr. Smith's O2 STAT is 96%?
It's O2 SAT people! Sat, short for saturation. I even hear respiratory therapists saying this. I am sooooo tempted to say something next time, but I know it's just petty, so I needed to vent here. Thank you.
I have gotten a great laugh from reading these, even though mispronouncing words irritates me to no end.
I am currently in nursing school and my instructor says: immulizations instead of immunizations. Drives me crazy. I want to say something but I value my grade too much.
Anyway, funny stories.

I'm in NY, we say throwing up...not throwing, but I didn't know that it was solely a North Eastern thing! lol

I'm loving this, becase I love seeing how different I speak compared with people in other regions. I'm in NYC and I don't say ambulance either of the ways you mentioned...we kind of say it like "amb-yoo-lince", the more I think about it the more crazy it sounds! But that's how I've always said it and how I've always heard it.

Jag-WIRE was pretty commonly said in CO, where I'm from. Always made me cringe.
However, in the UK and I'm assuming Australia, Jag-U-ar is the typical and accepted pronunciation. Since the car is made in the UK, I suppose they're allowed.
