LATTC FALL 2020/Spring 2021

Published

Hello! I am starting this topic so we, who applied to LATTC, can keep each other informed. I have applied July 2 2018, and so far I have not started the program. When I went to go check where I was at on the waitlist, it looks like they only got to those who applied April/May 2018 for the cohort Fall 2020. That being said I believe I will be starting Spring 2021. Please comment any information you may have or when you applied ?

I think elac changed its criteria...

Seems like more than one school has posted that the Spring semester is likely not happening.  So frustrating!

Let’s remain positive until they tell us otherwise ?

Hello,

I applied for a nursing application  on July 3rd or 5th 2018...I don't remember if it was one day before/after the 4th of July.

I actually walk into the office to find out the status around January 2020 right before the COVID-19 happened. They told me that Spring 2021 would be the one to start.

I haven't received any phone calls/emails yet?

I emailed twice....on Oct. 3rd and 12th with my phone number but no one has emailed/called me?

I guess I will wait for November for further notice/info?

I really appreciate the informations that you guys posted here :)

Please stay safe you guys!

Hello,

may I ask are you sure you applied in 2018 and not 2019?. Because according to this thread they’re done with July and now in September. I am just asking because I applied July 2019.

I didn’t take it because I chose to become a nurse, at the end of the Pre Reqs I had said “well might as well finished what you started and with a 3 semester wait you won’t be finished with law school by then anyway”. 3 Semesters was the max I was willing to wait and I am not one of those people who change career direction at the end. Now that you guys are saying it’s a 4 semester wait which is really a 5 semester wait and oh don’t forget the Summers. Then ya at that point I would have said to hell with this and gone to law school, I was already planning this year to just start the RN program on schedule for Spring, finish it and go back to Law School for me I can be done in two years flat and start right away. My advice to anyone that can do anything aside from nursing would be to do it. Apply to be a cop if you have an interest in Law Enforcement they make more money than nurses, better benefits, and no school required, if you are finished with your BS requirements and just got on the waiting list and have maybe an interest in Law try Law School. As someone who has devoted the last 8 years of her life becoming a CNA, then an LVN and then working in acute care hospitals and home health I have learned this business and know what to expect and I can tell you now the majority of you will find nursing a constant struggle with little pay compared to more advanced fields, high stress, physically exhausting and mentally exhausting with all the hospital politics. So if you have just got on the waitlist consider it

First of all, I'm sorry that you have waited so long. I feel your frustration. I have been waiting for about 4 almost 5 years to get into a program. I can't tell you why you have not been accepted yet. I'm a firm believer that God has his perfect timing, but that's just my opinion. Your also right there are a lot of negative nurses who know it all, etc. (I wrk in the field-CNA) Howeverif you think being a lawyer will be even better, your in a nice surprise. My friend has been a paralegal for 10 years & has told me lawyers can be jerks and stressed out constantly especially if you work for a big law firm. She's worked all over and for well known celebrities, etc. Also any career you go into you will run into know it alls, etc. I did banking/mortgage lending before switching to RN and they existed there too. Law Enforcement, the majority can be know it all & it's definitely not what people think. I know, my ex has been a one for over 15 years & it's stressful. I've been around tons of cops to see the way they carry themselves and there job is crazy stressful. Also, depending on where you work as Nurse, they make more than cops. Even cops say nurses make more than them. The nurses at the county jails make more than the cops. The nurses at my job make up 54 an hour, not including differential and weekend differential & you never know, you may get into a good paying hospital. Don't sell yourself short. Also, Nothing in life comes easy & there will always be challenges including when you go into law. My advice to you is weigh your options out, what you love to do or walk away from something your beginning to hate. I get the discouragement, but there will be challenges throughout law or nursing and coworkers you have to deal with, it's a part of life. I have had a lot and I mean a lot of setbacks (personal, etc) and plenty of rejections from multiple nursing schools, but at the end of the day I love patient care and would definitely exhaust all options before making any decision or before throwing in the towel, unless law is what you truly love, then just do it. But if you don't feel at peace leaving nursing then enjoy your time to sleep etc and save money while you can bc my friend is doing the nursing program currently at LAtcC (she waited 5 years to get into nursing school in general), and she said it's pretty intense & demanding like any career, but worth it bc the professors there really want you to learn and it's only $1900 for the program including books etc but that's a lot cheaper than wet coast etc 100,000 plus if starting fresh. Try APU they are also a good school they a BSN 2+2 transfer program in Victorville. That's my plan B for the schools I applied for. I will definitely be praying for you that you either get in or maybe just do law school since it does seem like you love law ?

If not don't give up this is just a top of the ice berg with nursing ?

We seem to have a lot in common.  I was a Paralegal, and my ex is a cop currently made 200k last year.   It’s with some o.t. but not too much.  54 bucks isn’t that much.  54*36 is 1,944 a week.  Not much.  A lawyer makes probably and you’re just talking a PI Attorney about 500k per year.  See the diff.  I am an LVN, I used to be a CNA (such hard work) and I currently work for a huge hospital Corp.  I won’t tell you about because you already know.  I just feel I could have been on my feet by now and everyone told me, “you should be a lawyer”.  I have too much time invested now to go back 9 years and start again.  I made my choice and will work with what I have.  I also, didn’t have what I have now back then.  I have money now, I got lucky with something, so I can look back now in hindsight. I know what “good money” is.  I don’t think 1,994.00 a week is that great especially for all the time you waste in between.  It’s a decent income, but if that’s you’re only income and you’re not married to someone who makes the same or more, you’re not going to get far.  1,994- approx 30% in taxes you’re looking at 1,396 a week.  A very average wage nowadays.  It’s not going to get you a house out here you’ll be living in an apartment unless you’re a homeowner already.  I don’t want to keep going on.  Just grin and bear it.  I made a decision, perhaps I could have made a better one, I didn’t, and will have to live with it.  You’re right in a lot of ways too it’s only 1900 dollars.  I think I will schedule a meeting with one of those people again maybe someone different who will actually show up

Look all we are saying is that we are grateful to find a program that isn’t expensive at all to become an RN, even if that means waiting patiently. If you don’t like it, then you can go somewhere else. Since you are talking about being a lawyer, then go ahead and do that. But if you are only going into nursing for the “paycheck” then you shouldn’t be doing nursing at all.... just go be lawyer if you are all about the money. People here are looking for positivity and hanging on while we wait our turn to enter the program and all you are doing is being negative. So please take your negativity somewhere else. Thanks

Hi ladies,

I agree.  Being a mother I can’t afford west coast university tuition for a RN, so I feel humbled to be on waiting list so I’m gonna patiently wait.  Meanwhile, I am doing another BS program through my job, which is free, to better myself and not forget how to study if that makes sense.  It’s a business administration degree so I’m thinking it will be useful everywhere.  Be positive be patient ? and better yourself in other ways until your time comes.  Or look elsewhere if you have the options.

Anyone heard anything?
