So, I got audited for my CEU's last year and spent a lot of time pulling them together, as I had changed jobs twice (my husband is military).
This year, no renewal notice came from the State and my employer doesn't have an auditing department. Having done all that work last year, I guess I just forgot that THIS was the renewal year. Totally accepting responsibility here.
I've gone past the 60 day grace period now.
Went online and downloaded the stuff to re-register, have all my CEU certificates and, of course, the fees.
Just wondering if anyone else has gone through this process. Anyone have words of advice or input?
Feeling enough like a dumb-***, so please save that part of the input. LOL
Thanks, everyone!

Had my CEUs done early, renewed on time, but I know an rn who didn't get hers renewed for almost two months because she never got the letter. She was still working. I checked my website to see if it's accurate and it is.

But that's such a random username! How on Earth did you come up with THAT???
The nurse I replaced actually was fired because she was practicing without a license and had moved and didn't notify the board or whatever so didn't receive the written notice about the license renewal. My company owes tons to Medicare because she was working like that for a while.

I believe most states say that they are not required to send you a renewal notice. It's the licensee's responsibility to keep his or her license current.

I don't recall any employer ever reminding me to renew the license that fed my family and kept the wolf away from our door. I know that I renew 2 months before my license expires, every two years.

Wait I'm so sorry I think I am wrong guys! Lol. This Rn was also a social worker. I just read consumer affairs.. it's the social work license that has a grace period if not renewed due to no notice. I see nothing about the nursing license now that I double checked. Totally got confused. In my defense this was years ago when I was a CNA. and my memory is shot Lol. My bad!

No drivers license notifications
No car sticker notifications
NOTHING.
In IL, you can't practice without a license - this was our year to renew everything and because the state is closing state offices and laying off workers, we were all told to renew as soon as possible which for us was March (our licenses expire May 31st). IL is not a state to let your license lapse as there are few workers to help you get it reinstated
How much is the fee for RN license renewal in Illinois? Mine is already 3 months late and I don't know how much the fee and the fine for renewing late..
Thanks

AZ makes it kind of easy. Every nurse renews in April of their renewal year (every 4 years). So if all else fails and you don't remember what your renewal year is, just check before April of each year lol.
But for reals, this sucks. I hope the BON processes quickly for you and your employer is understanding.
