I am interested in Nursing and I wanted to know are you allowed to wear your hair down at work; If it is past your shoulders?
Interesting post.
I always wore my hair up and away from my face when I worked in the clinical setting.
Now I am in Hospice Care I wear my hair up in the summer time as I get too hot other wise.
When the weather cools down I tend to wear my hair down (nearly to waist level) but have the sides pulled back away from my face.
My patients always comment on my blonde curls. :imbar
I had long, long hair in nursing school and as a gift to my self I had it cut short. Wish I'd never done it. It took years to grow it back and never looked the same. I loved the big chiffon bows that were in style in the 80's-not now though. What I do is make a pony tail at the base of my neck and then pull the ends back through above the scunchi. It looks pretty good and can be done in 5 seconds.

Our hair has to be above our shoulders..
I once saw a coworker bend over to wipe a pt bottom and her long long long pigtail went into the toilet. She pulled her head up and didnt know it went into the toilet and whipped urine everywhere. Needless to say from that day on she wore her ponytail up higher lol
Well all i can say is that along with agreeing with all the OP, i HAVE to keep my hair up and out of the way for all the obvious reasons, but mainly cause i get so darn hot!! Its always crazy busy where i work and long hair is torture! If it stays off my neck i'm happy . the last thing i want to worry about is a sweaty neck

I had a friend in the ED who was actually LIFTED OFF THE GROUND by her hair. A very large, very disoriented patient got hold of her before security could get to him. She lost big clumps of it and was in a great deal of pain. Needless, to say, she's kept it tied back since then.
