LAC+USC interview new grad RN

Published

Hey guys, I have a question. I had an interview with LAC+USC and received a letter that I passed the oral exam. I read in the letter that they are going to contact me if positions open up. I am a new grad RN. Have you been in my situation? How long does it take until they call you? Do we have another interview after the oral interview or this is it? Please share your experience with me..thank you

Hi derosan: If you want a job, don't wait. Right now there are atleast 40 applicants/1 job. Call all the RN recruiters atleast every week.

Hi RapperRN: Yea, I plan on it. But shouldn't I wait for the letter (4-6 weeks) that says I passed?

@derosan You should, I know that USC asked me to fax the eligibility letter & my resume to be considered for RN I positions.

You can wait for the letter. It took me about 4 weeks to get it. However, you can also call to find out if they plan on hiring and if so, in which departments. I've had my letter for a couple of months now and I call every week to find out if anything is new. You have to be persistent (and kind). Let them know who you are and bug them until you get hired. Good luck!

So does that mean that the website they gave you for posted available positions isn't really reliable?......you have to call?

Right. The point is to get hired. In this market you have to know someone, or be Johnny-on-the-spot, or both. When the positions come up they have to go from the nurse managers to HR and then from HR to the webmaster, etc, etc... That takes time and by the time it's posted, they likely already have someone to fill the position. So, to get the news first, call the RN recruiters.

the time has come... -=- dramatic music in the background -=-.... I got a call to start.

Omg Yayyyy!!! Finally! Lol. When they called what did they say? I can't wait for my phone call. :)
@ RN,BSN,PHN Finally! It's good to hear people are moving forward! makes room for new interviews haha. Quick question, did you have your acls or pals when you interviewed with them?

they said " your par finally cleared and weve got a start date for you. did you still want to come work for us??" sounds like theyve been getting turn downs.

I do have my acls, not my pals. It isnt required, but looks good on the resume. you should get yours! especially if youre looking into critical care.
