  1. That's great CoCStudentNurse! Let us know how it went. I finally got my letter stating that I am on the certification list today. Considering that my process started last November, it was long overdue! Keep in touch.
  2. Wow!! Congratulations CoCStudentNurse! That's such wonderful news. Although I have not had the 2nd interview yet, I would think that because it is a new grad position that there won't be too many technical questions. However, I don't think it would hurt to review some basic medication administration rules, chain of command if dealt a difficult situation, etc. I always try to remember and bring up words like team work and communication. Nursing is patient health/safety focused but it is also about how you work as a staff member with your team and how well you communicate with them as well as the patients and physicians. When is your interview? I'm sure you're going to do great! Good luck!!
  3. Thanks again CoCStudentNurse. Yes, it's hard to believe that the economy has even affected the nursing job market. I currently work in Labor and Delivery, and I honestly cannot remember the last time we hired new grads . Same for the hospital, it's really hard right now. But hang in there! You came this far.....a position will turn up for you! Keep us updated on your journey!
  4. thanks for the info. wow.....i wonder why i haven't gotten a letter yet. so frustrating. my second question is this, do you remember what day you reapplied online? it seems as if the wait time for the certification letter was started over for everyone because of it. i'm frustrated too because i have been an rn for over 8 years, but since i am a non-employee, i have to run around in circles just as much. i'll probably give them a call tomorrow to see what's going on. they're probably sick of me. oh well! have you thought about or reapplied anywhere else?

  6. Hi CoCStudentNurse, Can you tell me what day you had your January interview? I'm wondering because I had my RN I exam interview February 2......it would at least give me a bit of an idea as to when I'll be receiving my eligibility letter. I'm getting tired of stalking my mailbox and being let down every time I check it . Thanks so much, and good luck! I'm sure positions will be opening soon. It's such a large hospital....they have to keep it staffed somehow!
  7. When applying for a specific position, do you have to send in a copy of the letter/results from the initial interview along with the resume, letter of interest, time cards, etc??
  8. Let us know when you get yours! I shouldn't be far behind!
  9. Seriously!? I just talked to nurse recruitment, and they said the results of the initial interview take 6-8 weeks!! Anybody else's take this long? I'm going to be 5 weeks tomorrow.....eye eye eye!
  10. So does that mean that the website they gave you for posted available positions isn't really reliable?......you have to call?
  11. Thanks for the reply I was told towards the end of my civil service exam to look on the website and call them regarding the open positions that are posted. I walked out of the interview feeling good, but the 4-6 weeks she said I would have to wait for the result is going to drive me crazy! Has anyone not passed or have known of someone not passing? I know it's probably just the overanalytical side of me, but ahhhhhh! Do you have a specific department that you want to work in? GOOD LUCK!
  12. Hi Everyone! I'm an RN with about 8 years experience, and today I had my initial RNI interview. My intention is to get into the ER at USC, and I'm really excited! My question for you all is, about how long did it take from your initial interview to getting a letter in the mail stating whether you passed it or not? Thank you so much!
