LAC+USC interview new grad RN

Published

Hey guys, I have a question. I had an interview with LAC+USC and received a letter that I passed the oral exam. I read in the letter that they are going to contact me if positions open up. I am a new grad RN. Have you been in my situation? How long does it take until they call you? Do we have another interview after the oral interview or this is it? Please share your experience with me..thank you

Omg since August?!? I was cleared second week of December... Have u followed up with Nurse Recruitment?

Hey everyone sorry I've been MIA for so long, I had to work 2 4day weeks! and this week, I started on my own (after 6 weeks c a preceptor) so I'm a little stressed. They said there's another big group of new grads entering the floor soon, so I hope I see some of you on my floor.

Not since last year. Everytime I have, it's the same thing: budget. Have you called them recently?

Volunteer pioneer,Any news on the 90 something nurses they hired last year? Is it us they are referring to when they say another group will be starting soon?

It's us they are referring to. From my understanding they are bringing in the new hires in groups; there was a Sept group (~20), Oct group (~#?), a Nov group (this was my group, 12 of us), Dec group (~20), and now I'm guessing this is the next group coming up?? A lot of the 'new hires' are internal candidates who are transfering units and still need to go through a training process.. or new grads who were hired part-time but were promised to eventually become full time.. My suggestion is to keep up Nurse Recruitment; even though they say it's the 'budget' I feel that's been in place and it's really just a matter of preceptorship placement.. there aren't enough people on the floor to precept, and you need to go through med surg before you can get into ICU. but that's my 2 cents.

Oh my goodness! RN, BSN, PHN has been cleared and waiting since August?! And Volunteerpioneer, when you say "your group" in November, does that mean you were cleared with everything including the 2 physicals since November and you have finished your preceptorship already? That must mean that you've received your start date rather quickly and also I thought the "training" or "preceptorship" was a total of about 4 months? 6 wks seems kind of short. I have been hired for PICU and they have never mentioned anything about starting off at med/surg before going to ICU? I am scared of waiting for months and months before I actually get to start b/c I have already been waiting for months and months to even land this job. I sure hope they give all of us a start date soon. I am still waiting to hear back for my live scan clearance (which I called HR about and a girl told me I've actually been cleared on the 16th and they don't know why someone has not contacted me yet. She told me to expect a call by tomorrow (Tues). It is now Wed and still no call. sigh..) Reminding myself repeatedly "patience is a virtue". lol.

Hi guys! I applied Dec. 2011 and received the first letter Jan 18 2012. My first interview is on Feb 16th. I am so excited!!

I graduated Dec 2010 and got my RN license May 2011. The job hunt's been so bad. This is my very first interview since I graduated!

I've just spent 3 1/2 hours going through all 33 pages and I am fired up! Thank you all for letting us know what is going on. I will keep everyone posted as well on my progress. Best of luck to all of us!

No i was hired July, cleared August then waited.. and waited.. and waited.. finally 'started' mid November (2 weeks orientation, no floor), started my preceptorship on the Med Surg floor 2nd week of December, on my own now.. waiting for ICU preceptorship which is anticipated in April for me.. in the mean time I will be working in Med Surg.. There are people on my MS unit that are suppose to go MICU, SICU, Neuro and Transport team.. I don't know about PICU.

When I called, it has always been about the budget. My favorite line is, "We are waiting right with you." Ummm.... No you are not. You didn't even ask me my name. And you have a job and I don't. Lol. Anyways if you want to work for County, it will be a long wait. It will eventually be worth it. So far, from applying, I have been almost 9 months in the process. I hope to get a start date before my 12 month mark. Hopefully they bring us on soon!*Sorry if there are any mistakes, I'm on my phone. :p

Nurse jaydee,Have you called nurse recruitment lately? I forget, what unit did you get promised to work on?

Volunteer Pioneer,So will you be full time on med surg until they figure out when theyll put you on their initial promise of working on an ICU? Are all the people that you started with suppose to eventually go to ICUs? And did they do this because you all didnt have any nursing experience whatsoever upon starting? Sorry, so many questions.
