They haven't decided??!!! Way to go for leaving someone dangling in the wind!( imagine a string of pithy cusswords here) In my case, they 'invited' me into the office, and after talking and offering me, or saying they were thinking of offering me alternate routes toward resolving the problem, they told me they had already turned me in to the Board, and that I would be receiving a call from the board within 3-4 weeks. That was bad enough, but to be left wondering and worrying is just plain cruelty!

What happened? You will find out soon enough. If it is for practice issues, it may take several weeks but the board will send you a registered letter. At that point, depending on the severity of the issue, they will probably ask you to do remediation classes. If it was related to drug issues, you may hear sooner than that depending on the state you live in. At that point, you will be asked to join their program and follow very strict rules in order to save your license. It sounds like the employer was faced with something they hadn't really experienced before so who knows what they're doing. I hope it all works out for you. If nothing else, you are learning that when it comes to a nursing license, they don't play!

You can wait to be contacted, or you can call the Board yourself. The employer doesn't have to do this in a timely manner. That is part of the pleasure associated with the action.
I was contacted by my nurse manager the day before my scheduled shift tthat i couldn't come in to work and to come in that wed to speak with them and if everything was clear i could return to work. what a long week that was. I sat and thought what it could be and nothing like this ever crossed my mind. I go in on that wed ....sat and waited for almost a hour to go into a room with two men that were security? They sit and talk to me and tell me to be honest that it would be better this way. So....what to my suprise? Diverting! So after almost hours of questioning and drilling and me.being a 110% honest ended with a drug test and we will call you when the results come in. I believe i heard them say that they are obligated to report this. So i get a call a few days later saying im fired. We dont know if the BON is going to be involved. Another few days go by and i get a call from some medical place asking me to provide all prescription drugs im on to them. I totally forgot that my cough syurp i take @ nights has codeine in it...which was +. I did what was.asked and haven't heard anything since. I know now after searching this site for hours that i probably shouldn't have answered any question but i went into this meeting blind having no idea

O lord I am so sorry to hear about your troubles. It looks like to me you were ambushed! What made them ever think you were diverting drugs? Did they actually fire you or you still suspended pending the outcome of the investigation? What else did they say? Sorry but I am full of questions because this hardly seems correct or even legal to do to anyone.
im a brand new fresh nurse out of school. Landed me my first RN job at a hospital on a surgical floor. Their reasoning was that i was pulling a "high number" of meds. They started me out with very small case loads and a lot of outpatients that come in. I of course like to medicate my patients that are in pain. There is also a LARGE number of LVN's there. They are not aloud to push so they will get the supervisor or a RN that is near. Well....guess who was always sitting at the nursing desk because she had 1-3 and/out patients. and 90% Most of the time the supervisor is never around/near.

You were thrown to the wolves in other words. Something similar happened to me when I was working agency. They backed me up, I took a UDS, offered a hair sample and stood by my clean UDS and charting. No further action or complaints were forthcomming, but I was PO'd! This is where trying to be helpful gets you in trouble and I am sorry for that. Get a lawyer, and in the future if you are ever suspended or told you can't return to work without a "meeting" schedule the meeting when you can bring legal counsel.

Can you check online? Our license info in WA are online. You might find out there before the letter arrives in the mail.
I'm sorry to hear your bad news. Not the first time I have heard it happen.
Yeah i will definitely remember that next time. I just hope I didnt dig myself in deeper in the meeting. I tried to stay calm and non emotional but how can you when your LIFE and CAREER is on the line. They kept telling me to come clean it would be better. Judged my nursing practice. But i.want to know why they can do all of this with no proof? Just some statistics from a computer? And why would I EVER confess to something that i did not do!
I just hope that people aren't talking about me at work and it getting out in public before i have the right to fight. Like if some of the hospital administration and coworkers knowing me or my family. How do you explain something like this especially if your innocent! Im so tired of being a nervous wreck with 2-4 hours of sleep thinking about what or when i will know something from the BON
