Hey everyone,
I haven't seen a thread for those of us applying to KSU'S ABSN (or even traditional) program and thought I would start one. I am taking the TEAS pretty late (early January) and will have most of my pre-reqs done by December, but I'm pretty nervous. I have around a 3.5 from my bachelors degree at UGA and will probably end up with around the same in pre-reqs. It seems pretty competitive so not sure of my chances! Hope I can blow the TEAS out of the water. :)
If I did my researching correctly on here, applicants were hearing pretty late last year, like late April and May. I hope they can end the suspense a little earlier this year!
Anyone else applying?
Heyy yall! my name is emma and im applying for the fall 2014 traditional BSN! this is my 3rd time applying. It has been such a learning process!! I have a 3.7 and got an 81 on my teas! Since i ran out of classes and have retaken classes, im currently in patho!! Keeping my fingers crossed this time!!
I heard patho is a really hard class from some of my friends in the nursing program! Good luck to you! Your stats are competitive!
Does anyone know if the removal of the interview questions is for Traditional AND Accelerated program applicants? I would prefer to interview versus solely being judged on what I look like on paper. I'm applying to the accelerated for Fall 2014 and I have a 3.6 GPA for the Maths/Sciences, and 3.5 overall from my BS. I got an 83 on the TEAS. Not feeling too confident, especially when looking at what people went through for the Spring 2014 process.
I am pretty sure that they are removing interviews completely! It's crazy!
Has everyone talked to F about your scores? I went to her before applying just to be sure that I didn't need to take classes over and she gave me feedback on my chances. Since the average TEAS score is an 86ish, I would think about retaking it if you didn't get in the high 80s. The negative to taking away the interview process is they know NOTHING about you except your stats. With as many people that apply (from what I hear, 1000 per semester) if your scores aren't VERY competitive, it's going to be tough to stand a chance without extremely high scores. By no means am I trying to be discouraging, I'm just giving my honest opinion. Talk to you advisors! If you made low 80s on the TEAS, retake it! Chances are you'll do better.
Im really interested to see the types of people that are accepted in the fall. Taking away the interview has to narrow the field to only top students (grade wise). I've met many people along the way that have phenomenal grades, but don't seem to be nurse material. I don't understand why they are taking away the opportunity to see the character of the applicants instead of just how they appear on paper.
I agree with you Elliot - I don't understand how they can take away the interview process and still accept people into the program that will be able to complete it. I don't think I would have gotten in solely on my stats. I have a 3.5 overall GPA and scored an 87 on the TEAS. I think that's great Emma that you're taking Patho! I took it last semester at Clayton and learned a lot!
I emailed S back before winter break. I wanted to talk with her about my grades/scores and where I stood in the competition. She never replied to my email. I know she's very busy, but I guess I can always try emailing F as well. I have already taken the teas twice this year, so I guess I'm going to have to wish for the best with what I have.
Oh, I know people who haven't gotten in with less than stellar stats as well, but they rocked the interview. Then I have a friend with a 3.8 and 87 on her TEAS that never even got an interview. That is my point. Up until know, people were given the chance to show who they are in person at the interview. I'm confused on what they are going to base the application process on now.
