KCC ADN and PRCN Program

U.S.A. Hawaii

Published

Hi everyone! So, I was just wondering if any of you guys know my chances in getting in the ADN program at KCC. I'm applying for Fall of 2014 and to be honest, I'm not really confident about my application... Just thinking about applying makes me nervous just because I know how competitive it is. Also, if you guys think applying for the PRCN program for KCC is a good idea also. Please let me know, thank you guys so much!

Cumulative GPA: 3.6

Pre-req: 5 A's and 5 B's

Co-req: Only completed one with an A (taking the other one this semester)

TEAS score: 71.3%

No work experience :(

Ahhh thanks for the tips Ellers! Now I'm more sad about my application :( lol I guess I will retake classes, hopefully I'll end up getting an A in them or else I'd be wasting my money lol I should start studying again to retake my TEAS cause now I'm sure I won't get in the first time :(

Thank you for the advice TravelingRNwannabe! I will actually apply to both the ADN and PRCN :) Even if it might take longer, I know it will still lead me to become an RN :)

Sorry Kayla didn't mean to make you sad. But it does all depend on the pool of applicants that apply for that semester. It still doesn't hurt to apply for the ADN and also I would apply to the PRCN. Have you considered applying for UH? It seems that it's much easier to get in there compared to KCC.

Oh no you didn't make me sad! lol I always get that way when I think too hard about the application process haha some days, I feel like i'll make it and some days i feel like i'll never make it... But, yeah I think I will try the PRCN too! I actually wanted to apply for UH for fall 2014, but I realized I didn't meet the TEAS standard score for them so I didn't apply :( they considered people who got 78% and I only got a 71%, so i'll probably retake my teas in March :) I heard it was easier to get in Manoa, just because they take in more students and hopefully I will get in for Spring 2015! :)

Hi,

I want to know what my chances are of getting in to KCC ADN or PRCN program. Co-req are all A's and pre-req 3 B's and a C. I know i need to retake these classes!!! Anyway, I got 82 for TEAS. And I'm going to retake it in March to get a higher score. Though my grades are very disappointing, I'm still going to apply this fall for both ADN and PRCN program. For those of you who got in to the program, do you have all A's? no B's at all?

Thanks!

Jane

Hello! I am wondering what my chances of acceptance are as well. I applied for the Adn program for fall 2014, and the wait is making me so anxious!

My stats:

Prereq GPA: 3.4 (I know, terrible :/ )

Coreq: 1 A, and retaking pharm now to get a better grade

TEAS: 82%

CNA certification with direct patient care experience

Any info is helpful, I have been stalking these boards like crazy trying to figure out my chances :p

Specializes in MICU.

I applied for Fall 2014 too! I keep searching the boards trying to find out when people usually get their letters lol. Seems like it's around late March for Manoa and beginning April for KCC. I applied to both but I don't think I'll get into KCC cause I'm technically considered a non-resident now, even though I was born and lived in Hawaii all my life except for one year working in California which messed up my resident status! I have all A's except for 1 B and got a 94% on the TEAS but the nursing advisor said my chances are still slim for KCC because of the one year I was away in California :( Oh well, hopefully there's still a good chance for Manoa!

Good luck all!

I graduated this past August from KCC.

My stats when I applied

GPA 4.0

NLN 117 (before it changed to TEAS. Minimum was 115 NLN so I just made it)

CNA state certification

I wait listed for about two weeks and got my acceptance letter. The original letter came about late march.

Your chances really depends on the competition you have applying for that semester as well and what their grades are like.

& Ofcourse they give preference to residents among other things.

Good luck!

Hi guys! omg all of your stats sound great compared to mine :( since my pre-req gpa is 3.4 and i got a 71% on my teas with no work experience... But hopefully we all have a chance at getting in! I actually didn't know that KCC takes residents over non-residents... That gives me hope lol I know what you guys mean about being anxious :( I heard the mail comes mid-april, but i try not to think about it too much because it gives me anxiety hahaha

Kayla, if you have some time, you can retake classes to get a better GPA, if it's for KCC.

Yeah, I'll probably do that next semester... or even take a summer course :) is there a particular class you recommend retaking? I got b's in psychology, zoology 141, 141L, 142, math 115 (statistics), and microbiology

Kayla,

I won't recommend taking zoology this summer. It's too much too take for a short period of time.. I'm retaking it as well this coming fall. Im currently taking zoo 142 and lab online at KCC. Hope to get a good grade. Good luck to you. Lucky you don't have any C. i have one. definitely going to take it again.
