  1. Kayla, if you have some time, you can retake classes to get a better GPA, if it's for KCC.
  2. I graduated this past August from KCC. My stats when I applied GPA 4.0 NLN 117 (before it changed to TEAS. Minimum was 115 NLN so I just made it) CNA state certification I wait listed for about two weeks and got my acceptance letter. The original letter came about late march. Your chances really depends on the competition you have applying for that semester as well and what their grades are like. & Ofcourse they give preference to residents among other things. Good luck!
  3. NCLEX-RN audio learn on audible.com It's about 22 hours.
  4. 1. A great support system 2.CLASSMATES who are also my BEST friends 3. & Mixed drinks ?
  5. I agree with USCrn. I used the Kaplan book to study & when I took practice questions after each chapter I had the strategies by my side to use (so I can get used to it) studying and using the strategies and learning HOW to take the test made all the difference for me. The day before my exam, I sat myself down, gave myself 6 hours and took a 265 Q exam with breaks in between to mimic the actual exam. I also downloaded a NCLEX review audio book on audible for free for the days where I couldn't read another word or while I was cooking. Good luck!
  6. I retook it once and passed, I had to take a second and see my learning style as well as what my weaknesses were. I used only the Kaplan book and NCLEX question apps on my phone. I also used an NCLEX review on audible.com for those days where I just couldn't read another word. My biggest weakness was just knowing HOW to take the test and getting comfortable with the exam style questions. Studying the strategies on how to prioritize etc helped a ton. I figured studying content from start to finish again would have been a waste for me personally because I had learned what I needed in nursing school. I did however refresh on medications & some major diseases. I was surprisingly calmer the 2nd time around. Good luck!
  7. 19? You're still so young! Don't let that stop you from doing what you want and taking the route that was intended! I started the program at 22! And was 2nd youngest in my class. Like I said, there are also other programs if you really don't want to wait but it doesn't hurt to apply and see where it takes you... KCC or not, nursing is such a rewarding profession. Good luck!!!
  8. The program was not easy, I truly believe once getting in that the application process was the easiest part of it all. It's a lot of work...a lot. But as I mentioned before, so worth it .. Retaking classes to get better grades is a good idea (I did it for some) if you have time. You can do the PN route but it takes a little longer if you decide to transition into the ADN program if you add all the time you spend together. I suggest you seek out one of the nursing counselors at KCC for pre nursing counseling (they're great help). If you have time to retake your entrance exam, do it if you prefer. But I would say to just apply if a deadline is coming up...the worst that can happen is they say no :) don't give up! Manoa has a good program as well...I did the KCC route because I wanted to save some $$$, and now I'm doing a transition program for my BSN which is an extra year after my 18mo at KCC.
  9. I recently graduated from the KCC nursing program and passed my boards ... We didn't take the TEAS for entry, but instead took the Nln so I can't help you in that area score wise But my pre req gpa was 3.9 Co req gpa was 4.0 And had prior CNA experience. I wait listed but about two weeks then got accepted KCC is a great program, and it's true that it's very competitive ( but so worth it) The admission rate really depends on how competitive the scores of those applying for your semester are, in your case for Fall. So if everyone applying has great scores, it's harder to get in. I would recommend keeping your grades, scores and experience competitive. With the new program' you can automatically transition to UH Manoa for your BSN which is a great deal, Good luck and feel free to ask me any more questions.
  10. I failed once and passed on my 2nd attempt. The first time was horrible I was a ball of nerves. I was a lot calmer the 2nd time. The thing that made a huge difference for me was studying the STRATEGIES. Once I learned HOW to take the test and take apart the question & choices, I was able to take the test better. I used the Kaplan book & it helped a lot.
  11. I used the Kaplan book which I found to be a huge help. It really depends on where your weak areas are. Saunders is great for content review. The biggest thing that helped me was learning to strategize and HOW to take the Nclex. I also downloaded an Nclex review on the Audible app the times I couldn't sit down to study. If you sign up you get 1 free book and can always cancel your subscription afterwards. Good luck!
  12. I took mine on the 18th , got the good pop up and paid for the unofficial results today & it said that I passed! Good luck!
  13. Okay! See you tomorrow.
  14. Haha sorry! That was a rude question!! I heard Walmart does money orders too? Have you ever gotten it from them? & yes I'm sure we'll be crying alot, or at least I will! I am planning to get my BSN yes, thank goodness the bridge program is back! Saves so much money!
