Hi, I will be starting the RN program with Kaplan as soon as we relocate. My husband's in the Military so the wait lists at other colleges turned me away from them.
Do any of you go to Kaplan? If so, how did it work out for the student loans and stuff , I am confused. It seems as if tuition is around 45000 for the couple years of the program. I am eligible for the pell grant and the military grant of 3000 per year. But would the loans be able to cover everything else since it's a vocational school more than a traditional college? Thanks!
Hey april, It is def. alot of money but if you want to wait to get in to the program this i the price you pay. I decided to wait after i got accepted- I know all that work for nothing haha.. I tried looking for nursing loans no luck yet.. The Federal Loans help alot and the school allows you to make monthly payments ( not cheap either). I wish you the best of luck
okay I really want to start the RN program in Jan and tomorrow I am supposed to go take the TEAS test. I have been studying for two weeks straight and I feel really good about the results IF I decide to go through with it. I'm starting to second guess things due to things in my life, I know that the LVN program is just as good, Do anyone know what the qualifications are for the LVN? I have passed my SLE test with a 24 and I have the 6 month medical experience that is needed...do anyone know anything else that may be needed?

i dont know what the requirements for the LVN except passing the SLE then taking the HESI. Um it seems like you have everything down with just the TEAS left you should be fine. Just remember that you do need to get a 75% or higher to qualify but really shot for an 80% or higher and scoring good in math and science since thats what you need in your nursing profession. GOOD LUCK you'll do good
I took the TEAS test Friday and it was not as bad as I thought, I passed!!!! I didn't make the score I wanted so I'm going to retake it again to try to get a higher score. My advisor advised me to go ahead and start the enrollment process and get my paperwork together since we have until Dec 1st, and then add the better score once I've taken it in Nov. Does anyone have the information on all that I may need? And has anyone got accepted into the program with a C+ on the TEAS test? I was told that they factor in a lot of other things besides your score on the TEAS test is that true? Sorry for all the questions, I'm just so nervous and exicted at the same time:eek:

I think they really factor on your medical experience and/or degrees to see if you can handle the work for the program. Um if you have credit for your GE's, you should bring that in. Your drug screen/background check is VERY IMPORTANT must turn that in before the deadline or your application wont be even looked at. Start your physical and immunizations too and of course your high school diploma or GED, your letters of employment in the medical field and/or degrees. hmm i dont know anyone who got in with a 78-79% on the TEAS and got in. I got an 80% on the TEAS and i was put in the alternate spot for September however they do factor other information for admission. So GOOD LUCK I'll probably see you in January hehe;)

The total program costs $54,410. Thats including everything, books, scrubs, insurance to cover you when your doing clinicals. Its 70 credits for that amount, thats $777 for each credit. If you have already completed some pre reqs like math, english, psychology or other sciences...that amount with be lower for you as those classes can be transfered to Kaplan.
