Kaplan college in San Diego RN program

Published

Hi, I will be starting the RN program with Kaplan as soon as we relocate. My husband's in the Military so the wait lists at other colleges turned me away from them.

Do any of you go to Kaplan? If so, how did it work out for the student loans and stuff , I am confused. It seems as if tuition is around 45000 for the couple years of the program. I am eligible for the pell grant and the military grant of 3000 per year. But would the loans be able to cover everything else since it's a vocational school more than a traditional college? Thanks!

My advisor told me about the early acceptance too.. Maybe the policy changed gdoubleu...

Also it makes sense to do drug test and background check after getting accepted.

Those are expensive tests, and I wouldn't want to waste my money doing those tests

even before getting accepted. I should still double check with my rep monday to be 100% sure..

Yeah I would definitely double check with your rep because as recently as this past Septembers term I know of someone who was not accepted due to her urine being too dilute in the drug test results and obviously her tests were done prior to acceptance.

Tests are done prior to the start date but not prior to acceptance into the program. They don't test all 150 potential students per term. Background check and urine test have to be within 2 months of starting the program but can only be done once you've ben accepted into the program. If you're results come back bad then obviously you are no longer eligible to start the program. I will know by Nov. 15 if i am in or not but I cannot do my background or urine test until after Nov 18th. I just submitted all my paperwork and am now just waiting on that call so I obviously know that they don't do a background check and urine test prior to acceptance because I just went through the process. Financial aid also comes after you get accepted into program. My rep is the senior rep there. Anymore questions?

gdoubleu is correct, you have to have the background check and urine test completed before acceptance 60days exactly from the start date which is any date after Nov 18th if you want to be considered for the Jan class. U can not have a dilute reading or u will not be even considered for the class, the background check is 65.00 and the urine test will be covered with this fee. The background check and urine test is another part that gets you accepted u can't do it afterwards because its another important factor. U can have everything but this turned in on the early enrollment Nov 1st, but tha background and urine test can't be done before the 60 day mark.....As for the cpr certification, physical and TB some of the reps request it at different times, Ray hands out the form after being accepted!!!!!!!

Nope, no questions since I'm already in the program :) and don't need to worry about it. I just wanted to make sure everyone one here was getting correct information on the admission process.

Yes it is very important for you to do the background and drug test or else they won't accept your application. I am in the program and my advisor told me we have to.

Ofcourse it's important to do both those things I never said you didnt have to. I said you had to get accepted to the program first because that's what I was just told and I just went through the admission process. Im waiting for them to call me to let me know if I got accepted and I havent done either bc my rep said not to until I got accepted but I do HAVE to do both before I start January 18th. Anyway's maybe it's different for people who are not applying for early enrollment. I hope everyone that is trying to get in the best of luck and be patient... the waiting sucks lol...I only have one more week til I find out but this week cant pass fast enough. Study for your TEAS to get the best score possible the first time around. Hopefully we will see eachother in the classroom.

I'm in the same position as you.. I applied early and am waiting to get the results.

Good luck... I hope we both get in.

good luck to all....i was told that once ur in, the time flies by! When did u guys submit ur paperwork for early enrollment?

I got everything in by mid. October! I got the call today and I AM IN!!!! KCW100 have you heard anything yet???? If you havent I hope you do soon!! Let me know! Im so excited and relieved :D

I'm in too! I just got the call today.

Now that I'm conditionally accepted into the program,

I'm a bit worried about the urine test. I started to take over the counter sleeping aid pill for about several days.. This was about 3-4weeks ago. Do you think I will pass the drug test with no problem?

I'm kind of nervous that the chemical is still in my body and cause me to get positive results.

Those of you who are in the program, can you guys tell me some things about how they conduct the urine test?

What is required ? What kind of chemicals do they test for? Anything would help.

I appreciate it~!
