Question on schedule!

With the sample schedules, showing we would work either a Saturday or a Sunday on week 1 and or 2. Do we get every other weekend off, or do we work every weekend? I am confused! if someone can help explain the schedule to me ?

Generally most  schedules seem to be for working weekends one week and not the next. For example, if the schedule looks something like week 1 "Tues Wed Sat" week 2 "Sun Mon Thu Fri", you get the weekend off every other week.
It helped me think about it if you put it all together in a continuous schedule- Tues Wed Sat Sun Mon Thu Fri Tues Wed Sat Sun Mon Thu Fri etc etc. So you are working Tuesday and Wednesday, get two days off, work the weekend and Monday, get two days off, then Thursday Friday, then get the weekend and Monday off. And then it just repeats indefinitely.

Do you all think we're going to hear from the NCAL Residency team about projected offers before we get the official offer from TA next week? I just wanna know what it's going to be already!

same ? waiting doesn't get any easier

Hey all, I have a few inquiries if anyone is familiar with the KP network has any insight!

Does anyone happen to know of how long do new grads generally wait to switch to an evening or day shift position if placed on nights?

Or how long do most people wait before cross-training into another unit?

Just wondering out of curiosity since as a new grad I'll most likely be placed on nights and every hospital is different, so just trying to know what to expect for the future. ?

Very excited to start this new journey and definitely looking forward to meeting those accepted into KP Oakland!

You can't just switch, you have to bid per our union contract. Welcome to the KP family. But coming in your at the bottom everything is based by seniority job bidding and bday, holidays.

Of course! I did mean through the bidding process though, just wondering how long before people are able to branch out to other units, shifts, etc.. even though I know this would be variable I guess I was hoping for a general timeline to expect?

If anyone hears back with the official offer please let us know! I'm so paranoid about missing it

Thank you for clarifying this for me!

I haven't heard back yet! It said by March 20th. I am so anxious as well, I am signed up for job notifications from Kaiser and I keep getting emails from talent Acquisitions and every time I am like "Oh my god" and its not the official email haha. I think def by Monday we will have it ?

I noticed in the official job description it says "...residents can change unit, shift, schedule, hours, or hospital after working a six months in total at Kaiser Permanente.  " - Hope that's helpful!

Hi,

I am late to the party as I was part of the second wave of acceptance and I did not get a survey for preference in unit/shift. I got an offer for Oakland and was wondering if they had offered up an specialities units like L&D or OR? Or does anyone know how they might offer those to the 5% of our cohort?

look forwarding to working with you!

That's a good question. I got a survey fir Oakland and that was not an option (for me at least), so I'd be interested to know as well!
