Just took NCLEX-RN

Published

I just took the NCLEX_RN today and feel really stupid. I had a bunch of select all that apply, some delegation, drugs that I was not familiar with, and only one calculation. The test stopped at 75 questions. I was very shocked when it did. Any thoughts?

I PASSED TOO!!! Now I can say I am RN, BSN! We are all amazing! Congrats to vballman, RN! I know we were feeling nervous.

WOOT WOOT!!!!

Hello, I also just took the NCLEX yesterday and dont think I did so hot. I had alot of drug questions that I had never heard of. I only had one calculation and alot of prioritizing. I also had several procedure questions that I dont remember going over in nursing school, which leads me to believe that I didnt do well at all. I am a nervous wreck. I had 80 something questions. I know like 15 are pilot questions and dont count but I am still feeling very down right now. Well I just wanted to share my experience.

I will update you all on my results.

Where did you go to school? I went to Troy in Montgomery. It's normal to feel that way. I only had one calculation, a bunch of prioritization and delegation, a few pharm that I had no idea of, and way too many SATA. You'll know tomorrow at 8am. Good luck and I'll keep you in my prayers.

i passed too!!! now i can say i am rn, bsn! we are all amazing! congrats to vballman, rn! i know we were feeling nervous.

woot woot!!!!

thanks sarahbri10, rn. looks nice, huh?!?! i don't think there is a word to describe how nervous i was. oh wait, there is....numb. :D congrats again!!

Hey, I went to Wallace in Dothan,AL.. Yeah I had alot of SATA as well and I think I screwed those up as well. I dont know. I hate being negative. I try to always be positive and have always done good in school, but this test was something else. It made me feel as if I didnt learn anything in school. I will keep you posted, and good luck to all you as well. For those of you that passed, CONGRATS.. I know it must feel wonderful to have it behind you.

Ditto!

I took mine too yesterday and it sounds like the same test. One calculation, and Meds I've never given...I did see one on a commercial many times so I was trying to replay the commercial in my head. :banghead: The computer went off after 75 questions and I just felt like crying. It's like let me answer a few more questions, how can those questions determine if I will be a RN? My appt was at 0800 and when I was done I walked back to my hotel, I got back there at 0924...unreal. My chest is so tight, don't know if I can wait for tomorrow. I felt so bad when I got home I didn't even go buy a bottle to indulge in. Think I may have to do it today just to make it!

Which drug commercial was it? Mine was Evista. Unfortunately, the first time I noticed that commercial was last night when I was sitting on the couch. I thought, "There's that drug I had. I wish I would have seen this a couple of days ago". Nevertheless, I passed am an RN and so will you. Just keep your head up. I know it's hard. :D

I feel like I have learned NOTHING in nursing school while doing the practice questions, I can only imagine the real thing!! I take mine June 20th. I am sending positive vibes your way!!!

i did not know a single one of the medications on my exam. or most of the conditions that were named in the questions. that's why i walked out of there feeling like they had started up the wrong test for me! :chuckle

but i passed. and looking back, i think the obscure references are intentional, because what they really want to determine is our critical thinking ability.:nurse:

I passed!:yeah::yeah:

yay!!!!! congratulations squirmals, rn!!! looks good, doesn't it? there sure are a lot of new rn's! this is awesome!! congrats again, my fellow rn.

All I can say is HOLY ****!!! How in the heck can that test determine if one is a competant nurse?!?!?! It shut off at 75 and all I could think of was "is this it?" All of the years of A&P, Micro, Med/surg and this is what they ask me?!?!?! I am absolutely numb. I can barely remember any of the questions that they asked me. On some of them...I had to look around the room for the candid camera...its got to be a joke...are you kidding me!! but no...not a joke...I am hoping that somewhere in the dark recessess of my mind...that I knew some of the answers. I did thousads of questions before the test and they really did not prepare me for this test. I have no idea if IL post on the BON site or if I will have to wait the 48hrs for quick results on the pearson vue site. My luck, knowing how slow this state is...I will have to wait the 24 hrs. I can barely breathe now. This is horrible and cruel to wait.

Welcome to NCLEX. Fortunately, most everyone that felt that way after the test now are RN's. In the academic setting, we aim for perfection. Unfortunately, that is not possible on the NCLEX and that is a reality that is hard to grasp. I mean, 50% of the questions will be answered wrong and I can still pass. That's just not something we can get used to. If you went in prepared, knew your stuff, then you should be fine. Let us know how you did. I'll be praying for you and the other NCLEX takers out there. Congratulations to all the new RN's and LPN's, myself included, and good luck and study hard to those who have yet to take on the NCLEX. :yeah::yeah::yeah::yeah:

Erick, RN
