I realize nobody really cares about his, but I like to talk about decisions I make, so...
I decided to go with Keiser because while taking pre-req's I would be automatically accepted into the nursing program. One requirement is the TEAS. I have been REALLY stressing over this. I took it last week and failed parts of it. I am scheduled to retake if Friday, but have been terrified I would fail it and not only be out another $75, but also unable to retake it until September, meaning I wouldn't be able to start until next summer. I figured if I failed again, I would go ahead and take pre-req's now so I cold have the out of the way for next summer
After getting loads of advice on here and talking with my hubby, I have decided to go with my local CC, which has a nursing program as well. I will take all pre-req's there, probably starting in August. The CC is loads cheaper than Keiser, which is a private university. I have to take mulitiple classes at onece, which will be completely new to me.
Anyhow, I just wanted to say it outloud.

FWIW, I think that you made a wise decision. In the long, run you will probably find yourself better prepared for nursing school AND less stressed about taking that TEAS test.
I understand your initial reason for applying to a school that immediately accepts you as a nursing student, but sometimes it's better to take it slow. I truly think you'll be much more successful and happy in the long run taking this route. Do consider taking gen. chem and even bio 101 before your nursing pre-reqs. It really will give you a much more solid foundation for A & P and micro (or orgo. chem)
Best of luck to you!
Thanks for your comment and advice. When I was looking at the classes available, I forgot all about chem. I do have bio 101 under my belt.
And, with the local cc, I will take the hesi, which does not have a science section. Yay!

And you are going to be at a school that is invested in you.
What do you mean?
Community Colleges lose money (well I guess it is really the county and state that lose the money) by having you as a student. However that same state stands to make money off your increased earning potential. This is great because the school is invested in you doing well (where for-profits are invested in making share-holders happy).
So, are you saying no tot go to cc, or...I'm still lost here:confused:

It seems like what the other poster is trying to get across is; A CC is more interested in you the student, not you the paycheck like some private schools. I think you made a smart choice :)

You've made a really great choice. And yes you take on multiple classes at once but you can choose what those classes will be and what pace you want to go at. Also be sure to check out ratemyprofessor.com
Oooooooh. Thanks for clearing that up for me! I am officially registered with my local cc. New student orinetation is June 9th. Yay!

I took all my pre-reqs at a CC college, so I understand the expense part most definitely! You gotta give yourself options!

Just FYI, The HESI DOES have science sections. I recommend the HESI prep book. also by going to a school that does not automatically accept you, you are more likely to work harder for your spot and in turn your grades will be better. :)
