I started studying 1/3/14, I really only studied Intro (5%) and Bio of Microorganisms (25%) so far I haven't touched on Bio of Infectious Diseases (25%), Control of Microorganisms or Disease(15%), Resistence and the Immune System(20%) or Environmental, Food and Industrial Micro(10%). Now that I think about it being that I only studied 30% of the material, a 37/100 is not too bad right? I cant help but feel discouraged right now. Im about to quit Bio of Microorganisms and skip over to Bio of Infectious Disease. I test on the 28th. I might be rescheduling to February now.
Ive been studying between 5 and 12 hours a day. With maybe 4 days off since 1/3/14 (got discouraged thought I wouldn't be affording the exams as fast as I wanted but fortunately I developed a plan) Please share your opinions and feedback. Give it to me straight, no sugar coating. Ive been using the Tortora text, SG101 and Vangonotes but I only listened to chapter 4 so far. I have microbiology demystified, haven't touched that yet either.
How would you not be eligible for financial aid? I worked full time my entire BSN, and qualified for 18K in financial aide (student loans AND Pell) ????? I took a 3/4 to full time load each term and finished in less than 18mo with my BSN...when I was in the AAS, they did not have courses so I paid for each exam and/or class out of pocket! yuck! =) with the classes online now it is nicer for AAS students that struggle with testing and can use financial aid at least!
so hey when it comes to studying for the final.. u do the practice exams and focus on them>>?? then the exam is similar??
Many people do exam A right away or after very little study in order not to focus too much attention on material that wont be heavy on the exam and then study intensely and eventually take exam b. Usually scoring in the 70's will mean you will pass. Excelsior also wrote in their practice exams that it is recommended exam A be a pretest and to focus on the questions on the test, study and take exam b. Also, yes, many people say the practice exam questions show up on the test. I have heard many times people express that they would of failed without the practice test.
Finally took the micro test and got an A I was planning on taking it six weeks ago but a family emergency and moving states slowed me up. I got in the 60s on both practice exams. I spent way too much time on knowing the specifics of vaccines and microbes. Not being comfortable with those things was a large part of my delay and then ended up not being necessary. Now I'm going to buckle down and get these nursing exams knocked out.

Congratulations! That wasn't an easy one! Seems like since I got through the science classes I'm moving right along. Good luck!

Scored 42/100 on first practice exam 03/28/2014. Thought I had read through the study guide along with listening to my own audio recordings ( I don't like StudyGroup 101s audio recordings). But I guess my brain was somewhere else :). Plan of action is to (1) focus on the areas that need the most improvement (2) practice questions, practice questions, practice questions from SG101 guide and (3) Go on to take Practice Exam B to see if plan of action was effective. Wish you all the best in your studies! :)
