Just got a 37/100 on Micro Practice Exam :..(

Published

I started studying 1/3/14, I really only studied Intro (5%) and Bio of Microorganisms (25%) so far I haven't touched on Bio of Infectious Diseases (25%), Control of Microorganisms or Disease(15%), Resistence and the Immune System(20%) or Environmental, Food and Industrial Micro(10%). Now that I think about it being that I only studied 30% of the material, a 37/100 is not too bad right? I cant help but feel discouraged right now. Im about to quit Bio of Microorganisms and skip over to Bio of Infectious Disease. I test on the 28th. I might be rescheduling to February now.

Ive been studying between 5 and 12 hours a day. With maybe 4 days off since 1/3/14 (got discouraged thought I wouldn't be affording the exams as fast as I wanted but fortunately I developed a plan) Please share your opinions and feedback. Give it to me straight, no sugar coating. Ive been using the Tortora text, SG101 and Vangonotes but I only listened to chapter 4 so far. I have microbiology demystified, haven't touched that yet either.

Don't focus on the score as much as focusing and understanding the rationales and components of the exam. It is geared toward the test. I got a 54 and 62 on my a&p practice exams and passed it

I got 48% on my micro practice exam and I got a B on the real thing.Dont focus on the grade.

I failed both my AP practice exams and got an A on the real deal. Like another said, I just focused on the rationales afterwards.

thanks you guys!

WorseNurse, do you remember what your scores were like?

I got 48% on my micro practice exam and I got a B on the real thing.Dont focus on the grade.

That is actually tremendously comforting! Thanks!

58 and 66 I think

I agree with everyone else, don't worry about the practice test grade. I ALWAYS did way worse on the practice exams than I did on the actual exams.:wacky:

Good luck & keep your chin up.

if you are a more audio learner I totally recommend the vangonotes dot com and search for the recommended textbook EC lists. I got an A on that exam as well as A&P using the vangonotes! =) I used it again for the pathophysiology exam for my BSN degree with EC and got a B on that one. those practice exams I always thought were much harder than the "real" exam, and others are right; focus on the material not the grade.

Hey Tasha! I have Vangonotes! I listened to chapter 1 and 4 only so far. Ive been compelled to read first and then use vangonotes as a review. Im actually about to listen to the other Bio of Micro chapters now. I skipped over Control of Microorganism related chapters to focus on Bio of Infec Diseases which is the other 25% of the test and in my opinion more important. I REALLY need an A in everything!! Im serious about CRNA school. How did you use vangonotes?!? I also have the recommended text! Thanks. How did you like Excelsiors BSN program? How long did it take?

I am currently finished (my conferral date is tomorrow yeah!) with the EC BSN program, it took me 18mo, i enrolled as soon as I passed my CPNE and boards. I listened to vango while cleaning house, driving car etc....i only listened to it and read Microbiology demystified cover to cover (very short book), got an A on the exam...also used vango for the pathophysiology exam i took for my BSN, and for A&P both of which I got a B on only using vango-no reading....I would not skip around listening...listen to EVERYTHING at least once...just because you focus on a 25% area doesn't mean you wont need an extra point or two on a 7% area to get you to "passing" range. Unless you are strong on those areas completely then i'd still review it over a day or two at least.
