Hello all, just wanted to post a thread about Western Governor's RN-BSN in case anyone was considering going. I absolutely loved, loved, loved the program. I seriously have nothing bad to say about it. I had a wonderful experience with them and I would recommend their program to anyone who is looking to go back for their BSN. I finished the program in 10 months. I should have finished it in less time than that, but I started procrastinating at the end. If your considering attending WGU, go for it. You won't regret it.

And one must still be an employed RN in order to be enrolled there?

Yes, you have to be practicing as an RN throughout your entire enrollment in the program.

Congratulations and thank you for the feedback! I stumbled upon WGU on allnurses last week and have been considering it for my RN-BSN. I graduated from Excelsior and was actually going to go back and get my BSN with them, but WGU seems like a faster, cheaper option. I have a Bachelors in a non-nursing field and can probably transfer some credits. Do you have a clinical component to the program? Any community hours/ projects? The $4000 every 6 months is very lucrative, but how soon after they take the first payment do they let you take courses? How about textbooks and other resources? Thanks again!
You have to do 90 hours in the community health practicum but it's mainly interviewing people throughout the community on a chosen health topic. You actually have access to the courses about 2 weeks prior to the start of your term but you can't submit anything until your term starts. I paid the full term price for my first 6 months, but my 2nd term I only had 8 credit hours left so they prorated it and didn't charge me the full price. I it cost me around $7000 for the whole program. You don't have to buy any textbooks or supplemental material, it is all included and is web based.
Thanks Tara0219 for all the useful info!

I'm disabled, so that program is not an option for me, so I am doing the program through Slippery Rock University, PA.

Way to go! Which classes do you have left? Make sure you speak with your mentor and financial aid about prorating your tuition for your second term since you only have 7 CU's left.
I have part two of community health (C229), research, the leadership project, and the portfolio left.
During our most recent phone appointment, my mentor already said she would contact the bursar's office about prorating my tuition. I'm funding my tuition via self-pay, so financial aid is not involved.
