Johns Hopkins Hospital Nurse Residency Program 2020

Nurses New Nurse

Hi,

I have applied for and received an invite to interview at JHH on a pediatric unit. I figured since there are previous threads for past years I'd start a new one for 2020 hires/start dates! Lets all keep each other informed and updated through the process.

Hi everyone,

I was offered an interview for the progressive cardiac care unit at JH. Does anyone have any advice on how to do well or any idea what the unit is like? Feel free to PM me if you don't want to post on the forum publically! Thanks yall! Hoping to join the JH family if all goes well.

Hi Calistan,

I'm going to start my orientation at PCCU next Monday. I don't know much about the unit yet and only met the floor manager once at my interview. She is really nice and the questions are all that you would possibly meet already somewhere else online or in reality. Since I came from China, we talked more about immigration and the challenges I met along the journey to become a nurse in the US. I felt like the interview was a chat between friends. So, take it easy and be yourself as people always suggest and you will doing great. I wish you could get this offer and we will be working together in the future.

You're too kind, thank you! I really I hope I get this offer too. Hope to see you on the floor in the future.

Also, best of luck on your orientation!

Hey everyone, I'm from the NYC area. I am a May 2020 BSN grad licensed in New York.

Next week, I will interview for an ICU position at JHH. My concern is that there may not be enough time for me to join the October start date. The nurse recruiter sent me a video link to an RN Info Session. I see that they only have limited ICU orientation dates, and the last one for this year is in early October.

Is there anyone hired for the ICU that will start in November? The early November date will give me time to relocate and start MD licensure.

October is probably too early for you to get everything done with physicals and stuff. Although, you can work with an out of state license as of now since Maryland is in a state of emergency, Hopkins is letting me start Monday using my PA license.  It might be possible to start in October, but I would wait.

Yes, I was hired for an ICU start of November 2.

Hi! Just so make sure you are aware, I just received an email from a recruiter that if you are coming from a non-compact state(NY), you can practice on your NY license in Maryland for 30 days and possibly longer with the Emergency of coronavirus. As long as you show proof that you have applied for endorsement in MD, you can practice on your NY license! Hope this alleviates some stress for you!

Hi everyone! I just found out I am going to be working in the Wilmer Operating Room!

Hi all! I'm going to be a December 2020 graduate and have applied to the Hopkins ICU bridge program. I originally applied for some new grad telemetry positions but after submitting them I received an email from the lead recruiter informing me that December grads wouldn't be considered for new grad positions just yet. BUT she gave me the direct link to the ICU bridge program application because she felt I would be a good fit. I submitted that application 1 week ago and my application still says "under review." How long did you all have to wait before progress was made in your application? I was feeling confident about my chances when I got her email but this limbo is making me anxious LOL
