Johns Hopkins Hospital Nurse Residency Program 2020

Nurses New Nurse

Published

Hi,

I have applied for and received an invite to interview at JHH on a pediatric unit. I figured since there are previous threads for past years I'd start a new one for 2020 hires/start dates! Lets all keep each other informed and updated through the process.

Hi, I recently started a 2020 JHH residency program facebook group. I’d love for you to join. I know you’re already working as a nurse but I’m sure you have a ton of value to add from your experience. It’s called “Johns Hopkins Nurse Residency Program 2020”.

@mintmojito I’m also moving from PA(Philly) starting October 5th. I was able to get apartment with giving them my offer letter. That was sufficient enough. Question for you, how long did it take to get your ATT letter and license in PA? I am going to be taking the boards end of August! Thanks. Any other questions feel free to ask me! There are several apartment communities in Mount Vernon which is a great neighborhood for $1000 or under for a one bedroom or studio.

Hi! I will be moving from Philly and start on October 5 too actually! Getting my ATT was sooooo hard in PA and I take my boards next week so I’m not sure how long it will take to get my license after that and I haven’t looked into the process of transferring it to an MD license either. If you know how to get started on that process or have any tips, we can help each other!!

Hi everyone! My name is Caroline and I will be starting on the Psychiatric Emergency/Inpatient unit at JH on October 5th. I’m currently living in Philadelphia and am going to be taking my boards next week and if anyone has any tips for changing between state RN licenses or knows the process please let me know!! I’m excited to move to Baltimore and be apart of this new nursing community ?

Thank you so much! I think I'll be living downtown, closer to the Inner Harbor area.

I actually applied directly to MD's BON and got my ATT fairly quickly, like within a few days of my school conferring my degree. A lot of my classmates got theirs about a week after me and their licenses posted probably a week or so after. Still waiting for MD to post my license though and it has been a little over a month since I passed.

Hi! not sure if I'm replying to this! I'm starting either August 31st or Oct 5th depending on how fast I can transfer my PA license to MD! I just got a studio in the Mount Vernon neighborhood and an offer letter was all I needed for proof of income!

Thanks for the info!!

@mintmojito thanks. I’m doing mine in PA first. I just hear horror stories! I finish my last final literally tonight! So excited! Best of luck! Wish me luck taking the NCLEX! ? I hope when I apply for endorsement that a temp license will be given quick that lasts for 90 days.

@mintmojitoI'm applying to MD license by exam and scheduled to take the NCLEX on 8/18. But my orientation starting date is 8/31. I'm really worried that my license won't be posted by then. JHH responded to me that I can start as a Nursing Graduate while waiting for the license being posted.

I hear horror stories too, so I was surprised to get my ATT so fast. I'm giving them a little bit more time before I start harassing them.?

Good luck with your NCLEX! I'm sure you will do great!

Hi everyone! for those who have started working at JHU how do yall like it? If I were to get a job here it would be a major move (west coast to MD) so I'd like to hear about your experiences first!

Hey y'all,

I interviewed on 07/14 and just received notice today that I would be receiving an offer for employment. I will be in the Neurosciences Critical Care Unit, and during the interview it was discussed that the position would begin in November. I am excited to make connections and meet some of y'all in the coming months!

Hey! I interviewed on 7/21 for the brain rescue unit (Zayed 12 w) and I’m still waiting on my Offer letter. I received a verbal offer the same day. Are you 12w too?

Hey! CONGRATS ?. I’ll be on 3W!

CONGRATS to all accepted. I recently received an offer and I'm a PA resident. I'm about 80% through my PA registration for state boards and feel it's a waste to switch to MD now especially as people have mentioned going through Maryland boards is a lengthy process. Any thoughts on this. I'm so close to finishing PA registration, I really don't want to start over
