Johns Hopkins Hospital Nurse Residency Program 2020

Published

Hi,

I have applied for and received an invite to interview at JHH on a pediatric unit. I figured since there are previous threads for past years I'd start a new one for 2020 hires/start dates! Lets all keep each other informed and updated through the process.

Hi y'all! I recently graduated and will be starting on Meyer 6 (gero psych) on August 31! I'm moving from Philly to the Mount Vernon area. Already signed a lease in the Mount Vernon area, but I would love to make some friends!

@ERLeff let me know how your endorsement process goes for MD. I’m curious to see how fast a temp license is given. Has anyone had this done yet? Applying for endorsement? Do you get a temp license quickly? I have a very small window of time but am going to make it work!

Applied for my temp license (license by endorsement) since the first week of July and it still saying pending. Oh well I will use my compact license. I don’t even know why I applied for a temp license.

Hey all! Recently graduated, passed my NCLEX, moving from PA, and will be starting at JH on October 5. Currently apartment searching (kinda) but I realized that I don't have rental history and my current job salary is not sufficient enough to cover the rent of the apartments that I'm looking at. Does anyone have experience with this? Will my offer letter be OK as my proof of income? My credit is good and I have no criminal history if that makes a difference.

Yes, it is sufficient. However, if you won’t make enough per salary they may or may not approve it or they may approve with conditions. Personally I chose to stay in Timonium area. It’s affordable and a straight road.

Orientation is done virtually for now. Just thought I should say this. I am also interested in carpooling because $70- $120 per month for parking is a lot.

@RNBSNMay2020 did you do electronic fingerprinting in Maryland or hard mail copy of fingerprints? I think that might make a huge difference from what I understand!

I agree. I don't really want to drive but seeing as Baltimore isn’t as big of a commuter city as nyc, I might have to buy a car =/.

I thought about biking but that’s not a good option in the Winter. Honestly I’m hoping to be in walking distance from the hospital to avoid this cost. Imagine having to pay for parking where you work AND at your apartment smh

Can you go more into detail on this? When Is the first time you’re required to show up in personal ?

Can someone make a facebook group/page for all the 2020 residency programs? I think the 2019 JHH Nurse residency program thread made one so that they could potenically socialize in person and I’m def on board with that Idea, esp if all our opportunities for meeting one another during orientation as a cohort will be virtual (eye roll)

Orientation is the first and second day of starting work, all done virtually from 8am till 4.30pm (I believe or 8.30am - 4.30pm via zoom. The details will be sent via email prior to the orientation day. Then your department manager will let you know when you are to come in person, this will be conveyed to us at orientation. Oh well..

I am already paying $25 per month for parking, downtown it can cost $100-$300 for apartment parking for a month. Then $120 per month again at JHH.. basically your salary is going into parking per month.. ridiculous

I did electronic fingerprinting because I moved into Maryland a little over a month ago.
