Johns Hopkins Hospital Nurse Residency Program 2020

Published

Hi,

I have applied for and received an invite to interview at JHH on a pediatric unit. I figured since there are previous threads for past years I'd start a new one for 2020 hires/start dates! Lets all keep each other informed and updated through the process.

Hey there,

For those of you who recently interviewed -- how was the seminar from HR scheduled? The initial e-mail had said it was the same day in the afternoon. I received the link and time for my interview and it seemed like it indicated that I'd receive a link / more information on the details for that prior to the interview. Just trying to make sure I keep my schedule open so that I can attend!

My HR Information Session was scheduled while scheduling my video interview. It's usually scheduled the same day as your interview or the following day. Recruitment hosts informational sessions through Microsoft Teams every Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, and Friday at 1:15 PM EST. They're about an hour long, and the recruiter will go through a PowerPoint slide (covering Orientation Start Dates, NRP, offer letters, new hire checklist, pay & differentials, scheduling, parking/transportation, PTO, holidays, etc.) and there's time to ask any follow-up questions at the end. Hope that helps!

Hey everyone ,

I was wondering if anyone could give me an estimated timeline of the application process? I applied to multiple units that were open to New Grads mid-June and my application status still says "to be reviewed" ? I would love to work at Hopkins but Im starting to think I should apply to my local hospitals.

Hey,

I was in a pretty similar situation, and applied early June to a few positions. About 4 of my applications changed from "Application to be reviewed" to "Under Review" about 2-3 weeks after initially applying. I was invited to an interview at the end of June and accepted an offer by the start of July. I would say keep applying to positions that interest you and keep checking for new grad postings since they're constantly updating listings every week for different units! I set email reminders on my JHH SuccessFactors account so that I could apply to positions as soon as it was posted. Good luck!! Hope that helps ?

Thanks for all of your helpful information on the HR recruitment segments. Congratulations on the position! What unit will you be on?

Surgical Oncology!

That is awesome! My interview is in about 3 hours - it is 4AM here in Denver and I’m about to take my pup for a nice long walk and then get a workout in so I’m nice and relaxed. Hope to meet many of you soon!

Hey everyone!

New to this thread, but I was offered a spot in JHH's CVSICU on Monday. Excited to meet y'all in the coming months. I'm relocating from Brooklyn and am looking for potential roommates/recommendations on cool neighborhoods in Baltimore. If anyone else is in a similar position, please reach out. Wish y'all the best!

HI! Sfemt93 I’m from Brooklyn as well! I have an interview July 21 for the Brain Rescue Unit and I also scheduling an interview for the colorectal surgical oncology unit as well When do you start at JH? I believe my hypothetical start will be August 31. Are you looking for a roommate?

Any new grads move into the Mount Vernon area or nearby lately? August 3rd start dates?

I'm not in Mount Vernon, but I'll be in the Locust Point area for an August 31st start date

@ERLeff how did your move go and taking the NCLEX? Hope all is going smoothly!

NCLEX was pretty simple just had alot of OB questions which was stressful and move in went well I've been down here in Mount Vernon for about two days now. Occupational health appointments this week and other than that just trying to find things to keep myself busy.

@ERLeff CONGRATS! Right around the corner for me! I am looking forward to taking the NCLEX, moving to mount Vernon, and endorsing to Maryland. I don’t start till October 5th. Best of luck! Did they contact you to set up occupational health or did you have to do it yourself?

They reach out to you via e-mail with a link for self-scheduling of your appointment. Check out the new grad deadlines to make sure you schedule within the correct timeframe! good luck on the NCLEX!
