Johns Hopkins Hospital Nurse Residency Program 2020

Published

Hi,

I have applied for and received an invite to interview at JHH on a pediatric unit. I figured since there are previous threads for past years I'd start a new one for 2020 hires/start dates! Lets all keep each other informed and updated through the process.

I received the offer from JH Progressive Cardiac this morning. I will start on Aug. 31. I'm looking forward to meeting you all. I also need to move from Ohio. Please contact me if we have any FB group for this year's nurse residency cohort. I can't wait to meet you all.

Hey y’all,

I received an invitation to interview and request for references last Wednesday. Waiting to here back which date/time works. I graduated in May and took my NCLEX in early June. I would be relocating from Denver for the opportunity! Great information in this thread, thanks to all of the contributors.

@RNBSNMay2020 just a quick question for you. I also applied to multiple positions. Do you have to submit references each time or can the same ones be used for all applications? Thank you!

Oh dear! I don’t know if I responded to this! Sorry! Yes, the same references are used for all positions.

Been preparing for my NLEX-RN while moving across states to Maryland all at the same time. SUPER HECTIC!

I took the NCLEX-RN and I passed! I left the hall so unsure of myself I literally was almost in tears. I don’t know why people say UWorld is harder, but I found UWorld too easy and the NCLEX-RN itself hard cos I got so many SATA and prioritization questions! Thank God I never have to write that again.

Interesting, I found the NCLEX to be considerably easier than UWorld. I felt UWorld had much more specific topics then simply assessing general ability to provide safe patient care. A lot of critical care specific etiologies and interventions in the UWorld bank.

I can’t imagine studying and taking the exam while moving though. That’s a great deal of stress. Glad it’s all over for you.

FYI I only did half of the UWorld test bank averaging 65% and passed NCLEX in the minimum.

My university also required Kaplan throughout our program and provided us the 3 day review course at the end. I listened to it while doing other things, it was helpful in reviewing the principles of delegation, etc. I never did anymore on Kaplan after that class and switched solely to UWorld. Remember, it’s not like an exam in school and you shouldn’t expect to know every question. I think that’s where people get in trouble - they spiral when one question throws them. Good luck! You’ll do fine.

Glad you passed @RNBSNMay2020! I will be taking the Hurst Review August 5-7 with plans on taking the NCLEX soon after I get my ATT letter, as my last class finishes August 4th. I will be moving September 5th, so my goal is to take it before I move!! Look forward to seeing you guys!

Sweet thanks! Hope to meet you in MD

Taking my NCLEX tomorrow and moving into Baltimore (Mount Vernon) in about two weeks! So nervous, so excited, hope to meet lots of you and hope the NCLEX is easier than UWorld LOL

@ERLeff I also found an apartment in mount Vernon! I went to visit, it’s an incredible neighborhood!

Thats sweet! I'm moving into the Horizon House so let me know if thats near you or if any of the rest of you are nearby we should set something up when you get down. I agree Mount Vernon is an awesome neighborhood and I can't wait to explore it.
